Golden-Kinnara-Hotel

To find a hotel of this quality in an area almost totally devoid of tourists is a rare find indeed. This hotel on 5 floors was constructed just a year ago. The staff managed some English but not a great deal - that did not matter; they knew how to look after me. The bedroom was large airy and spacious with great views across this unspolit town from the 4th floor. Instead of coffee making facilities there was a jar of Chinese tea leaves and a kettle plus a thermos - so I was able to brew a sizeable amount and store it and keep it hot - an excellent idea. The minibar was fine and had a good range of soft and alcoholic beverages. There was a flat screen TV and good and silent air-con. With more than enough drawer and wardrobe space I felt totally at home. Additional locks on the door meant good security for my stay. The bathroom was of a decent size with two separate shower heads and the normal range of free toiletries. It was also good not to be surrounded by a shower curtain when taking a shower - and the water ran freely away and did not splash everywhere. The breakfast room on the ground floor was adequate in size with views on to the street. A range of local delicacies was available - fried rice, noodles, tofu, some meats and a large bowl of fried eggs. For the tourist there were sliced loaves and a toaster plus butter and jam - and not in tiny packs but in small bowls. Orange squash and tea and coffee were available and other food could be ordered through the kitchen such as soups with chicken or pork. All in all this was most satisfying. The staff were extremely helpful in arranging tuk-tuk type transport or more regular sedan taxis which had just arrived in the town. My room was made up quickly and efficiently and I was impressed by the cleanliness of the bedrooms. The bed was comfortable and relaxing.
