To be fair, the place had very nice design, a good location, a nice pool and hot tub, and a good view of the city and reservoir.  Getting there on the one way road system is a bit hair raising but we arrived safe and sound and the staff lead us to a parking space.  There they left us to carry our bags up two flights of stairs.  They didn't provide that service.  Ok.  We moved into our very nice room with a balcony and view of the City and thought life is good.   

Our controller didn't work and the night guard pulled out a 1/2 dozen more that didn't match work or even match out TV brand.  Ok, never mind.  

Upon returning for dinner, our countertops were covered with roaches which had made their way into some of our bags.  We showed the night clerk and he moved us into another smaller room.  Again, it was nicely appointed.  Just one thing, it was on the road and noisy till the wee hours of the morning and then again once the City woke up.  

If they paid me to stay in the room, I wouldn't do it.  

In the morning, I checked with the manager to see if he know the story.  He offered us free omelets to make it up to us.  I told him that since the room they moved us into was $60 less, they could just refund us the difference and that would set it right with us.

But they wouldn't refund the money.  They took our money at the hotel, but they told us had to get our refund through Bookings.com.   

The staff can generously be described as indifferent.  There were no smiles or greetings, just staff trudging through the motions.

I think the rooms away from the street are quieter but that's just a guest.  If you're unfortunate enough to find yourself here, go for one of those.

THE LOCATION:  A very nice and neat Hotel in Valle de Bravo. Very well located, just a few minutes from the lake and tourist attractions.  

The entrance to the lobby from the street is in a small and complicated to enter... its better to enter from the parking area and they will help you with the luggage. 

THE ROOMS: The rooms are nice and comfortable but a little noisy at night. 

THE STAFF: All of them are great and always willing to help. 

THE RESTAURANT: we only had breakfast and its OK (nothing incredible).

Well located, cute, clean, comfortable but a bit noisy at night

Spent two nights here...arrived on a Sunday to see how crowded the town gets on weekends, but our two nights were Sunday and Monday night.  The place really quiets down and in my opinion is much more enjoyable. Room was comfortable and modern; nice pool and jacuzzi.  Breakfasts on the open air terrace were simple (continental) but good and you could order eggs or whatever to supplement.  Location is ideal; just below the centro and easy walking (hint, the smaller back alleys are much freer of traffic).  Can arrange transport to the monarch sanctuaries or elsewhere; not the low-cost option, but highly convenient and safe.  Excellent service especially from Luis at the front desk, Roberto at breakfast, and Marco(s?), the driver.  Final point - if you are a light sleeper don't forget earplugs. Hotel itself is quiet, but the ubiquitous Latin American dogs in the neighborhood are not always so.

Nice, comfortable oasis in Valle de Bravo

Araucaria is ideally located to shopping and several tourists attractions Valle de Bravo.  The views from the terrace are beautiful and ideal for dining.  The staff is very accommodating, attentive and knowledge about restaurants and services in the town.

I would definitely stay here again.

Clean, Close and Comfortable

Altought the grounds, the location, the restaurant and the little lobby are cute there's nothing more here. Rooms 1 & 2 are suposed to be Jr. Suite, they are not. They are realy small rooms on the street level, with no double windows, so you might aswell sleep on the street for free. The showers are nice but the noise the size of the room and to be told it's a Jr. Suite it's basically a scam. Breakfast it's included but we order decaf they intented to charged additional for that, ridiculous. The staff at the front desk were attentive.

not a good place to stay

We went for a weekend and chose it for the location. You are about 3 blocks from the central square and walking distance to the main avenues for shopping and nightlife. The location is about the only thing that is going for them.

The staff is very helpful and outgoing. 

The hotel facilities basically is sort of a huge house with about 10 rooms but not well designed and not with high quality furnishings. Basically Costco and Sams Club furniture from the pool to the rooms. They have a sewage piping problem since it smells of sewerage all around the property.  The doors are flimsy and hallow wood. The property is not luxurious at all but alright for a place to stay. There are no amenities. Its a boutique wanna be hotel but badly done since it seems there was not done professionally. You will see many architectural and engineering mistakes in the rooms and bath.
