I stayed here for one night on a 30-day self-driving road trip that included both far northern and southern Laos, to Vat Phou. The vehicle, a four-wheel drive Ford pickup truck was hired from and returned to Luang Prabang. 

This is a true three-star hotel that operates like a full-service five-star property. At a walk-in rate of 630,000 LAK this falls into the high range of my normal budget. However, the other nearby properties were unappealing or more expensive. If you want to save some cash, move away from the riverside.

Otherwise, this is a very good, professionally run hotel. The room and bathroom were both clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The refrigerator, air conditioning, hot water, and wi-fi worked well. The bedding, towels, etc. were good.

Breakfast was also included in a full-service restaurant that is also open for lunch and dinner. 

There is ample parking for folks who self-drive.

I would have stayed here on my way back north through Thakhek but I chose another less expensive property that I will also review.

A very good choice

I checked into the hotel no problems, Vos handled my bags with excellent service and Pierre, Mark made my stay the best in Miami Beach. They have a great rooftop pool and bar downstairs for the tour stay. If you ever want to stay somewhere choose this hotel.

Birthday Trip

If this is classed as the best hotel in the area, my advice would be to move on!! 
The rooms are ok but are in desperate need of updating to meet the “international” standards they claim. The bathrooms are dark and dingy; the over bath shower means climbing into a very flimsy bath that you feel will give way (and I’m not exactly huge!) The exterior of the hotel is is dire need of a makeover. 
The breakfast was terrible. Having been expecting a buffet we were instead handed a piece of paper to tick what we wanted - all which was pretty revolting!!

Tired and needs updating

Our group arrived late evening and was given a decent welcome. The rooms were clean and acceptable. Though there is not much bright lights for our room, there is a balcony for us to have a view at the Mekong River. Aircond is working fine while outdoor is considered to be cold at 18 degrees cel; that is considered to be decent as well. Didnt try to have a meal in house as we went out for our activity early morning till the afternoon, hence overall experience was acceptable for our stay.

Great stay, great food. Facing the Mekong river with beautiful sunset view. Excellent service. Highly recommended. Very clean n comfortable bed. Great great great! Choose Riviera Hotel if you come to Thakkek. Staff r friendly n helpful.

Excellent hotel with superior 5* quality

I stayed at the Riveria Hotel in Thakhek village, Laos, for 2 nights recently while visiting clients in the area. The Riveria Hotel was a comfortable place to stay, and has unique views across the Mekong River over to Thailand.

The room was comfortable and airconditioned. My room (a deluxe room) had a shower-over-bath, a TV, toiletries, a king size bed and provided 2 bottles of drinking water per day. There was a small fridge provided, but no mini-bar. The room did have an opening door to a balcony, although I only went outside once to take some photos as it was very hot outside. Very reliable, high speed WiFi is provided free of charge, in the rooms, lobby and restaurant.

The check in experience was quick. I dined with colleagues in the restaurant twice for lunch, and both times enjoyed both excellent Thai/Laos dishes and good service. I also had breakfast there (included in the room rate) twice, and it also had a good variety of dishes. The food quality was very good. 

There is a small shop off to the side of the reception desk selling souvenirs and drinks.

Check out was efficient. The hotel prices its rooms in US Dollars rather than Lao Kip, and charges in US Dollars (either Cash or credit card). Do note if paying by credit card that there is a 2% surcharge applied.

Overall, it is a great hotel in this small town. It is a short walk to many local restaurants and bars, and a slightly longer walk to a market place. There are many small shops nearby, and the Mekong River is just across the road. I look forward to visiting this hotel again.
