Tsuruga Sazanami Resort Chobei

I stayed at the 'Hikari(光)' room at Chobei and it was beyond my expectations! I was amazed how close it was to the sea, it's literally just a few steps away from the terrace. It's hard to see on the pictures, but the room is very clean and modern. Even though it's a half-Japanese room and has a lot of traditional decor, all the facilities (toilet, bath, TV) are new and high class. I chose the cheapest meal plan, but it was still very luxurious for my standards. I was told that the Ryokan keeps their fish in the ocean in a net, which is why the seafood stays alive until moments before they are served to the guests. And you could certainly taste the freshness, I'm not sure I ever ate seafood so fresh in my life before! Each person also has a mini shabu-shabu where they can boil fish and vegetables. The sake they had was yummy too, I forgot the name but the one we ordered was very easy to drink and didn't feel harsh at all. I would definitely stay at Chobei again if I'm in the area. The staff was friendly, the food was amazing, and the room was great. There really is nothing more to ask for.
