Owner provided transport to railway station out of goodwill when local taxis were all busy. There is a bus stop outside however the first bus reach at 9:30am while the last bus leaves the railway station at 4:40pm. Be prepared to use taxis quite often which cost 2000 yen from the railway station

Great hospitality!

The owner of the hotel is very friendly. I rode a bicycle for sightseeing and the owner give me a space in the hotel to park my bicycle. The Kawaguchi lake is in front of the hotel. The lake view is very beautiful. The owner is also the chef of the restaurant of the hotel. The roasted chicken is very delicious. The bread made by the owner is delicious, too. However, the twin room is slightly small. The triple room is spacy.

The owner was really friendly and helpful and it is just by the lake.

The owner is very kind and accommodating. Showed concern to strangers like us.

The setting for this appropriately named hotel is very lovely, with sweeping views of the lake and mountains and a nice lakeside walk close by.  It is located a long way out of town and if, like us, you miss the last 'Green Line' bus you have take a taxi at Y1600 each way.  Not the best location if you don't have your own transport, because there is really nothing to do out there after sunset.
 
We stayed on a Friday night at the end of October and there seemed to be very few other guests - not really peak season, but still surprising.  The hotel seems to date from the 1980s and it appears hardly touched since then.  In fact you get the impression this was a family enterprise with the children helping the founding parent/s to carry on.  The tariff includes dinner and breakfast in a pleasant restaurant overlooking the lake.  The dinner was a set 4 course affair of good quality food in western style, which was fine but it was served rapid-fire so that  we were finished before we knew it and then things were quickly shut down behind us and it was very soon difficult to locate any staff at all in the hotel!  Locating staff was a challenge more than once during our stay, but they were very helpful and friendly once you found them.

Our party had two quiet, western-style second story (US numbering) rooms and neither showed any sign of any update for a very long time indeed.  The furniture was quite worn, the ceilings badly needed repainting, etc. The modular style bathroom (common in Japan) was perfectly clean but the toilet did not refill properly, the shower operated off the basin taps and only liquid soap was provided.  All beds in Japan - it seems - are hard, but these managed to be lumpy as well.  The TV sprang to life at 6.30am to our dismay (we never touch TVs when travelling)!

Overall, a bit Fawlty Towers and a bit sad to see a fading business like this - it really needs an injection of investment to return it to its glory days.

Stuck in the past

From kawaguchiko station we got a taxi to hotel yesterday. While u r at the station it is worth looking behind u as u will see mount fuji! And also pop to the shops there if u want to buy beers or snacks as there is limited shops around hotel yesterday. The taxi is reasonable to the hotel. The hotel is directly  on the lake. Absolutely stunning! We stayed there and our dinner was included. The sweet resturant does modern European food, which is fresh and well cooked, if not a little interesting! The rooms are basic, clean and comfortable . The bathroom was tiny but we only stayed there two days so it was no problem it was something to giggle at! There is a little tour bus which runs around the lakes which is cheap and can take u back up to town. It's very calm and sedate in kawguchiko. It's relaxing a nice to just chill out! Big difference to tokyo. The family who run the hotel were charming and very polite. There English is ok, their children were very sweet. There is a little shop and drinks machine next door to hotel but mostly sells tourist trinkets. The owner took us in his car for free back to the station when we left. Lovely place. It was such a lovely 2 days were spent here .
