Perhaps it’s not always so slow-paced, but it was very nice to be able to find free parking and not get run over by cars and scooters everywhere! Very enjoyable to just stroll. San Matteo Palace Hotel was striking for how immaculate it is when you first walk in. The clerk at the desk was very friendly and helpful and explained everything to us. The room barely had enough space to get around the bed to the terrace. It would not be suitable if you had an interest in spending time in the room. I don’t think you could even pull the desk chair out. The breakfast included in the room price was good and plentiful.
