La Corticella Bed & Breakfast

On our trip through Puglia we (couple, mid 30s) stayed three nights in this beautiful hideaway to explore the area. La Corticella is located in the countryside, but close (not even 10min drive) to both Alberobello, the trulli town, and Locorotondo, a real gem in Puglia. While the outside is a beautiful garden where every of the 5 or 6 flats has its own private area, it is the interior (of number 5) that really sets apart the location from other alternatives: it is a newly renovated place with attention to many, many details and equipped with great taste - more like a boutique hotel. The renovation was done very carefully and with state-of-the-art craftsmanship without ruining the old flair of the trullo, e.g. the kitchenette and the airconditioning as well as the bathroom. The interior is a very well fitting selection of antiques and design pieces making the stay very cosy. The breakfast is not only delicious for italian terms, but also for superior standards. The choice is plenty and many items are either home-made (amazing cakes), home-grown (fruits) or at least organic and from local suppliers (e.g. juice). Additionally, the choice of music run during breakfast was the icing on the cake. Lastly, it is the charming and likeable character of Mary (owning and running the place together with her family), who really made our stay like coming home to a younger sibling.
