I recently visited the Cinque Terre region of Liguria, Italy. Even in mid-September, it can be very hard to find anywhere to stay in the main resort villages. For instance, the tourist office in Levanto had nowhere for the three nights I wanted. Instead, I went to nearby La Spezia, which is easy enough, as there are trains every 30 minutes for 5 euros. Opposite the railway station, I found the Hotel Aurora which, at 47 euros per night, is a bargain for the area.

It's a one-star, so don't expect luxury. However, it is perfectly clean and tidy and the welcome I received was the friendliest I had in two weeks in Italy. The manager's daughter speaks excellent English and is extremely helpful and a mine of information about the local area. There is no breakfast on the premises, but the Bistrot Mercedes next-door is another very welcoming place and does a good selection of food and drink at very reasonable prices.

Using this as a base, I was able to do all the major walks in the Cinque Terre and visit city attractions like the Museo Amedeo Lia.

Friendly, convenient place to stay near the Cinque Terre

It is a good value for money hotel. A minute away from the train station. We found it clean. Towels and toiletries provided. It was perfect for the one night we spent there. A bit noisy as it is located on a main road.

Perfect location

We decided to go economy as we’re not expecting to spend much time in room.  It looked exactly as photo suggested so initially happy.  Bed was comfortable and appeared clean.  So, all was going well until we found WiFi non existent.  On many trips to reception nothing changed.  Water in tap never varied from cold to luke warm.  The toilet area had a terrible smell, I guess from lack of hot water.  I slipped shoes off to lie on bed, big mistake.  After moving around room in socks later, They were filthy.  I forgot in the morning and wandered around in bare feet.  My feet we’re absosolutely black and I couldn’t shower as water was too cold. I grabbed a handtowel and wet washed them.  Thought I would check the floor, OMG you should have seen towel.  I showed this at reception but was disinterested.  All we wanted was basic clean room with hot water and WIFI.  The basics were NOT MEET.  We have checked out and left 3 paid nights for some poor unsuspecting person who will also pay for the miserable experience.

This hotel is a normal hotel, nothing special. I was there for 3 days. My room was normal, not dirty. Bathroom(common) was a little dirty. But for a cheap price, i think was good. The best of that hotel is to be in front of Train Station, so you can go fast there and take a train for Cinque Terre ( just 15 minutes)

Old, the shower, tv and ventilator werent working. Bad smell. Awful. The wi-fi was bad. The linen was dirty. It was so hot. We pay 70€ for badroom with privat bathroom and we even couldnt get a shower. 

Rather stay under the star

Hi, it's definitely dirty, we found a nail on the night table. There's no bidet. It's noisy because there's people opening and closing doors all night long. Sheets were ok, but the shower was weird. Reception 24h/7 days
