We stayed here while on a 14 day G Adventures Tour of Ireland in May 2019; sorry for the delayed review.

Usually I don't take many notes about a BnB, but this one spoke to me.  Our room was by the front door with a separate bathroom across a short hall to one side. I will say it was clean. My notes include: thin towels, nails sticking out of the carpet and catching on socks, poor mattress, 2 poor channels on the TV, poor wifi, outside central kettle and only black tea, and heat on in "chunks" which I think meant sometimes it was warm and sometimes very cold. But the worse was limited hot water the first day and none the second day in the shower. In a cold climate, cold showers are not appreciated. 

The best I can say is it was centrally located and just a short walk to the park. And the breakfast was fine. I will say the Irish do know how to make a breakfast.

However, you may want to try someplace else in Killarney.

Sorry but can't score any higher

There was no one at the property when we arrived to check in. Rang the number several times - no answer.
Eventually found a tatty book on a side board with our name and room number.
Room 11. Basic. Small. Grubby. Stains on the bedding. No tea/coffee making facilities. Old course towels in the bathroom. Shower tray was dirty.
Breakfast was a plate of reheated cheap produce.
No sign of manager or owner in the morning - just the sound of the microwave heating the food. Would not recommend and will not return. 


Never Again! Shameful excuse for accommodation. 

First impressions count.... The door was unanswered and I located the hostess in her car. The room was damp and cold with stained bedclothes & hairs in both beds and under pillows. The room was fusty smelling. The Wifi was terrible and our bedroom view was ta wall. The room shabby with shabby and outdated furniture. There were chipped cups in the dayroom and the bin in our damp cold bedroom was unemptied properly from previous guests. The shower & skirting boards in bedroom were dirty and neither the tv or radiator in bedroom worked. The hostess said she would get her son to fix the tv the next day as previous guests had tampered with it. The Stench of cooked breakfasts from early morning from the kitchen a few doors up from our room did little for our appetite so we had orange juice and cold toast. Not an experience that I would wish to repeat never mind pay for. I would suggest staying elsewhere.

Crappy Countess

We stayed there before and we absolutely love Countess House. Room was spotless and breakfast was delicious. So close to the town centre. Restaurants and Pubs nearby.Highly recommend this lovely place .

Amazing stay.

Well upon arrival the building was kept up and very charming. Greeted by a chipper young lad, he showed us around the ground floor and then showed us out room.  He helped carry one of our bags up 1, 2, 3 flights of stairs. We had a top floor room with a huge skylight that opened up. But the room was very...very dated. Some of the furniture laminating was missing, pictures hung on the wall seemed like they were from the 70's and faded. Broken hangers in the wall closet and loose broken doors to boot. Clothes line dried "Stiff" towels and random hairs in the bedding. Attention to detailed cleaniness is not a strong suit here. A little shocked on no bathroom items (shampoo or conditioner). The saving grace was the amazing "Proper Irish Breakfast". After that, I didn't eat for hours. Plenty of parking and great location. Only a 5mn walk to downtown and great shopping. 

A little out dated

Myself and 3 friends stayed here Saturday night, we were greeted by a lovely young fella who carried our bags up to the lovely spacious bedroom where we had a comfortable bed each, very close to the town, great parking, very clean and really nice breakfast where we were offered a great variety, would totally recommend a stay here

Great place

We stayed in Countess House for two nights on 11 and 12 June 2019. In retrospect we would have preferred to stay elsewhere. On the positive side the room was spacious and well serviced daily. The breakfasts were enjoyable and we were well served there by staff. Countess House is well located for many of the things in Killarney. That said, there were things about Countess House that did not gel. Upon arrival we were processed by a young man. It was stand-offish, there being no chit-chat whatsoever. As my wife and I were to go upstairs to our room my wife disappeared somewhere (perhaps a sneaky manoeuvre?) leaving me to carry two suitcases up the rather steep stairwell. A woman in the foyer suggested to the young man that he should assist me. He did. I thought she was the owner or the manager, but it turned out she was a guest. Other than the good breakfast there was nothing. There was no information about Killarney and the surrounding area, seemingly no opportunity to easily connect with any staff member about anything, and frustratingly no internet access. In short there was not a great feel and we were left with the impression that there may have been a management issue which manifested itself in the overall ambience. In almost four weeks of travelling in Ireland Countess House would be ranked last by a significant margin. To grade it a 2 would be too harsh – 2.5 would have been what I would like to have graded it.

On balance would have preferred elsewhere

I was disappointed with this B & B.  The room looked like it needed to be vacuumed upon our arrival.  Bathroom was tiny, no shampoo in the dispenser, shower was very small.  Lukewarm shower water first morning, very lukewarm second morning.  Still no shampoo in the dispenser (bath wash and conditioner were adequate).   Towels on our second day were hard and crusty, as if they had been hung out to dry.  Furniture in the "lounge area" was dirty/stained very badly.  Very weak internet service! But advertised as wifi service!
My least favorite place to stay during our 2 + week in Ireland.

Ireland 2019

We were greeted by a rather unemotional, matter of fact young man.  No chit-chat or  anything .  Just check in and go to your room.  The rooms we had were nice, but there was no soap or wi-fi.   WE had rooms on thee upper floors and there is  no elevator.  The whole place was very sterile and unfriendly. 
The BnB was close to the town center with plenty of nice pubs and restaurants.  It was also very close to the train station so it was easy to catch an early train to Dublin.
They served a basic Irish breakfast.  
Nothing really bad, but nothing at all special.

I only booked for 1 night, but by the next morning it was clear we would need another, there was only one room left that didn’t really suit our needs but they changed things around to accommodate us, it was just wonderful. 
All the staff I interacted with were kind and friendly and extremely helpful.
The property is clean and tidy with lovely unique touches throughout. 
Breakfast was plentiful and quick, I wouldn’t rave about it but it was certainly edible and lots of it for the price of a night at this B&B.
My only possible complaint was the wifi really didn’t work very well in the rooms,even other guests mentioned that to me, and we had a double bed which is just too short for my husband and I, our feet hung over the ends.
Otherwise this place is perfectly located to town and pick up for tours. Lots of pubs and restaurants within a 2 minute walk. In fact we parked our car when we got to Countess house and didn’t use it again until we checked out.
I highly recommend this place, you won’t be disappointed.
