Not great service. Advertised breakfast till 12. Went in at 11.20 to be told breakfast is done and only soup.
Why advertise incorrectly? Few people also behind me looking for breakfast to be refused. Must be making enough money to be able to turn away customers


Incorrect advertising 

We stayed at the Castle Varagh Hotel while attending a reunion. The hotel has recently been renovated and was extremely clean.  The staff including those in the restaurant were attentive and very friendly.  The hotel itself was surprisingly large with plenty of meeting rooms and gated parking in the rear.  We would recommend this hotel and we will book it again.

Lovely  Renovated Hotel

The rooms are very spacious, modern and exceptionally clean, staff very helpful a large car park to the rear that is secure, a good selection of food and breakfast was delicious, located in a lovely village surrounding with all the necessary conveniences and central to a good range of sightseeing for castles, Abbey's and lakeside picnic areas. Overall a fabulous hotel and area would definiately return and recommend to others

Ireland break

Went to the bar here with family on Tuesday night after a long day tending to a family member in hospital. I have to say the staff really make this place! it's changed a lot interior wise since i was young living in Castlepollard and it was called the Pollard Arms. There was a man behind the bar, didn't catch his name but super friendly, kind and really couldn't do enough for us. If you are in the area this place gets my vote and will be back next year, great job guys!

Local gem i think!

Went for something to eat in this hotel today
Only had starter one alcoholic drink and shared a dessert.
The bill.came to 44 eur which we thought was expensive.
One rock shandy 6 eur one glass of wine 7 eur chicken wings starter portion 9 eur.
We wont be dining there again.
Far too expensive.

Not happy with the price of food and drinks in this hotel

My friends and I stopped in Castlepollard enroute to Mullingar and as we were all a bit hungry decided to check out the local hotel which has just recently been renovated. Carvery was the order of the day and we all queued and ordered what we wanted, I must say the portions were on the generous side and not one of the five of us had any complaints. Price was acceptable and service was fast and friendly, a nice touch was the extra gravy boats brought to our table without even asking. Desserts were ordered at the table and again very generous portions were received. Main courses were an average of 13 euros and desserts were 5.60 which were acceptable. A steady stream of customers lined up at the carvery and the vibe in the lounge/restaurant was lively and friendly definitely a sign of satisfied customers. Well worth stopping for a visit.

New broom sweeps clean 👌

Staff were so funny and helpful. There was a nice pleasant banter with them. Food was really nice and presented well. Well priced. The Restaurant is spotless and nicely decorated. There's lads of parking. 

Really nice

Stopped for lunch and won’t be back. The food was cold, tasteless and greasy. On paying the staff didn’t even ask how things were so if they were not interested to know how it was, I wasn’t going to bother telling them.

Not for me again

I stayed here as a stop off to a funeral. Like the lady from Dublin there was a misunderstanding of sorts over the price. I thought I had booked a twin-room at 65e but when checking out it was 100e. I did not receive a confirmation email as I usually did with booking.com and had thought that was strange. I also did not receive a receipt by email as promised. The carpet in the room was filthy the room itself was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful especially the guy who checked me in, served behind the bar and also served the food. The evening meal was good but the breakfast was very poor. Hotel needs upgrading. The lock on the door did not lock properly.

very disappointing

Hotel clean. Room had no plug by bed my husband has sleep apnoea and uses a machine at night. Thankfully we had a lead in the car. The TV is on a shelf placed very high on the wall. Why so high ?
 Bath water only like warm but shower water hot although they feed from same tap.
We had dinner. I asked if curry was homemade. The answer- yes.
What arrived tasted and looked like a packet curry sauce with a few prawns in it. Nothing else.
Our stay was overnight en route to the west of Ireland.
It was clean, staff friendly but bedrooms old fashioned and things like bedside plugs etc need to he addressed.
One night stay was enough.
