If you are on budget then this is perfect option. I stayed there with my father, booked a room for 4 days. Never expected room service in that budget. And prime location. If you want to stay near Kashi Biswanath temple, then this is the place.

Have stayed here many times.  It is an older hotel but in decent condition.  Last time I stayed they were doing some remodeling.  The staff is great, the rooms are good.  No breakfast but just outside of luxmi guest house greatest idly and dosa .  Reception  area quite nice.  Rooftop  decent.  Not too far from downtown (main gat Street).  Easy tuk tuk ride or nice walk.  Would recommend.

Great view from the rooftop, great lication, next to gange. Very helpful and cheerful (and joking) hotel boy. Room was average, no window and airco but clean. Breakfast on the rooftop and the hotelboy made my stay :)

You can feel refreshed during the day and night because of the amazing view of the Ganges river. The place is cheap and so nothing special about the stay that I could write about. Just walk a 100 meters and you can find many street food centers and decent restaurants too.

Okayish

I really hate to leave a bad review but I was so disappointed with my experience with this place.  It was recommended to me by a local friend and at first I had great hopes.  I was shown a very nice room with views of the ganga and on this basis I agreed to take a room and paid a 500 rupee deposit.  When I arrived later in the day the manager explained that those rooms were all actually booked and that he could only offer me a room on the lower floor which was much smaller and had a view of a wall.. I didn't feel good about this but it was too hot for me to be carrying my bags around looking for another place and because my friend knows the owner he agreed I could have the room for 1000 rupee per night. I thought this seemed reasonable at first, but when I started unpacking in my room I noticed how dirty it was, the walls all with greasy marks.  The bathroom was like a sauna and featured a strange pipe hanging from the wall that constantly had dirty water trickling out of it.  Was impossible to keep this bathroom clean.  The bed was remarkably uncomfortable, the electrics were dodgy - often cutting out completely and the remedy to fixing that was apparently to thump the switch board a few times..   The AC was not working great, in general it was dark, noisy and the over all environment was not relaxing.  The walls are incredibly thin and I could hear very clear the other residents in their rooms listening to the television from very early in the morning and late at night.

 I did not feel good about being in this place but when I left the owner only charged me 3000 which for four nights works out 750 rupee a night.  I thought this was a fair charge and assumed he had made it cheaper because of letting me down by offering me one room and providing a significantly lower quality option.  However...
When I had left Varanasi I realised I had left a couple of personal items in the room - a towel and a powerbank.  I let my friend from Varanasi know and he went to Luxmi to pick them up for me.  At this point the manager told my friend that he had undercharged me by one night and that if I wanted my things back I had to pay him 1000 rupee more.  This really bothered m - not that he expected more money but that he should not ask me directly to my face or via email as he had my contact details.  Instead he should ask my friend and also try to use my personal property as leverage to ensure I would give him money?  I just found this really unprofessional behaviour and contacted him personally to express my disappointment.  I wanted to find some way to resolve in a positive manner but he did not even reply to my email.  So, I didn't pay any more money and he kept my personal property.

Disappointing experience

Our room was on the very top floor- no elevators. There was no air con but a fan however the bathroom was extremely hot! Saying that there was no hot water at all, not even a little bit! Breakfast wasn't very good either, cold omelette with a horrible coffee and two pieces of toast- not the best. Wifi worked fine. Also it is in a backstreet, dark at night and a heard of cows not too far away!
