We visited as a group of 4 for a 3 night trip and had a fantastic time. Both Nandini and Sandy were great hosts to us, they went above and beyond and it felt like we had another home at Kanha. The food is great, especially the desserts. Our safari's were very well organised by Nandini and her network of Naturalists and we were very lucky to have superb sightings of tigers,wild dogs, numerous birdlife,etc.
We had minor hijinks with our car too and they were very helpful in arranging an immediate short distance pickup late in the evening.

Would heartily recommend Sarai Kothi for Kanha visits!

Nandini and Sandeep were the perfect hosts, and the location was beautiful. We appreciated the lovely atmosphere, fantastic food, and close proximity to the tiger reserve. We would highly recommend  for families or small groups of friends.

Went with a friend last december, and we had one of our best stays in our entire trip in India! The food was excellent, the room was spacious, clean, well lit and had a nice bathroom.
Neighborhood is calm and nature filled.
The proximity to the tiger reserve and the opportunity to go there multiple days was already great, but finishing the day with a  fresh drink under the starry night, next to a nice fire pit was just paradise.

We will treasure the memories of our 3 day stay at Sarai Kothi during our trip to Kanha in end March for a long time.- the location of the homestay in the midst of a 50 acre farm ,the tastefully furnished rooms,the sprawling verandah with stunning views of endless vistas,the seamless service by the house staff and above all,the personal touch and company of the remarkable couple running the homestay,Nandini and Sandeep. The food, lovingly prepared by Nandini,was amazing both in variety and taste. It was exhilarating interacting with Nandini and Sandeep at the dinner table,over delicious snacks at the evening bonfire and even during some of our safaris. Their passion for sustainable living and knowledge of the local environment made our Kanha trip more unforgettable. 

Lovely quaint luxury homestay which in many ways is better than some larger resorts or hotels in Kanha. Hosted by the owners, the hospitality is top notch and the food delectable. The house is located in the middle of a large farm, and adjacent to the Tiger reserve, making one feel a part of nature. Do consider Sarai Kothi at the top of your list when visiting Kanha, if you prefer small intimate luxury properties where chances are you will be the only group.

We had an amazing experience at Sarai Kothi. We were the only guests and received a lot of attention and warmth from the hosts, this made our experience absolutely unique. The rooms and the house are very stylish and beautiful, everything is perfectly clean and comfortable. The house is located on the farm and is surrounded by beautiful plants and plantations, suggesting a charming view from the balcony and terrace.  All design details in the house are carefully thought out and make your stay in the house a pure joy. Nandini was a perfect guide to accompany us on all safaris, she also organized delicious food, including freshly baked muffins and cakes for breakfasts during safaris. Going on safaris was also quite convenient from Sarai Kothi. The home-cooked food was delicious, better than at many high-level restaurants, and was served gently and elegantly. The hosts were great company, and we had nice dinners together, with pleasant and interesting talks about many topics. Every evening we had a bonfire near the house and we keep great memories of these moments. We feel like we found good friends at Sarai Kothi and would be happy to return. This is one of our best travels in India. We are grateful to our great hosts for the unforgettable experience.

The elegance and luxurious of the rooms and hospitality in the pristine, rustic place is striking. You can get close to nature and enjoy it comfortably here. 
The home stay is surrounded by a farm and forest. Conveniently accessible by road, it is close to the Mukki zone.  As you enter the property huge bushes of lemongrass plants flank both sides of the entry path and you know you are away from it all!
The rooms are tastefully decorated. The beds comfortable. Plug points are conveniently located. The bathrooms are spacious and neat.  Basic toiletries are provided.  Rooms have almirah and space to keep your belongings. The large wide windows allow light inside the room. I particularly like the sit out. Comfortable seating under a tent. There is a hammock and sofa and chairs to sit on the verandah. The food served is outstanding. The hosts make sure you eat fresh, tasty meals and make it all look subtly grand.
The lawns, the bonfire and the sit out are all blend together giving one a feeling of being at ease. The quietness and simplicity let's you soak in the forest and the sky,watch butterflies and listen to birds all day long. The night sky is spectacular especially from the terrace. 
The hosts source their workforce, most food items locally. They also promote local art and are happy to share their tips.
We had such a wholesome time finding time to read and relax in between safaris. 


We had an excellent stay at Sarai Kothi, the rooms were tastefully done & well appointed keeping in mind all the requirements the guests may have. The staff were well trained & super responsive. The food spread was amazing, with farm fresh ingredients & special attention was given to our taste preferences & allergies. The Host's were really warm, welcoming & great company helping us arrange our kanha safari & other experiences.. making it a wonderful stay. For those looking to unwind & relax away from the city life & /or enjoy jungle safari's this would be an awsome choice. 


We went to Sarai Kothi for 4 nights and 5 days. It was one the best times I had. 
The place is in the buffer zone of Kanha and Sandeep and Nandini were the best host ever. They had everything planned out for us to the T.
The rooms were amazing with neatly done interiors. We had a lot of noisy kids and they were very accommodating with us especially with the food for the kids. Our rooms were surrounded by acres of farming land and we could see for miles outside towards the forests. 

They arranged all the pickups and drops for us for the Tiger safari from Sarai Kothi itself. Morning safari is around 5 hours and they had planned our lunch boxes such that everything we would ever need was in there. I was amazed. 
We got a sighting of a female tiger who rarely comes out and we missed the male tiger by around 10 minutes. Since we had kids we got delayed.
We had some of the best food ever from their chef. All their staff was very helpful with kids meals and special requests.
We had bonfires in the clear starry nights and Sandeep and Nandini regaled us with stories of Kanha, tigers, their Afghan Hound dog bully and how they transitioned from their city life to this utopian place in Kanha.
I would not go to Taj or any fancy place in Kanha but only to Sarai Kothi which is way better. 
Living in the city we go looking for small adventures over the long weekends or holidays but Sandeep and Nandini are living an adventure every day.

What a fabulous place this is, tucked away in the most serene setting. Beautiful property and very tastefully done. The food was a delight each and every time. Nandini and sandy took care of us like we were family. The safaris, the treks, the midnight walks and jungle experiences we had were extraordinary. As an avid traveler the experience of a place matters the most and the memories you make even more. We have had both and can't wait to come back again to spend some more time with this wonderful team.
