Fabulous spot right on beachfront, saw wild dolphins and amazing sunsets.
Accomodating family and good food too. I would suggest you need to take your own towel and  hot water, as always in India comes in a bucket not from the tap

This was a really quaint place to stay over lookjng the sea with a lovely warming family..
nothing was too much trouble,always helpful!.
Breakfast was Indian style amd delicious...

Me and my girlfriend based ourselves here for 3 weeks over Christmas and new year. What a fantastic time we had. The room is very clean and has all you need for a hut near the beach. The location is literally across the road from the beach and a couple of minutes walk to the Centre of Cherai beach. Here you can also get a rickshaw or taxi to anywhere you wish to go. The owners of nila are really friendly and very helpful, making sure you have clean bedding and most days if you are awake, breakfast too. Highly recommend this place, great price to go with it. 

Awesome location

I stayed in Rajeev and SriDevi's wonderful 'homestay' room.The room was very roomy,clean, decorated in a traditional fashion with an en suit toilet and shower.The family is kind and welcoming.Security first class. The breakfasts cooked by the family were wonderful,memorable.The room is located close to restaurants.pubs and shops.
Rajeev will kindly help arrange any trips with local drivers and is always eager to offer ideas.
I wouldnt hesitate in recommending this 'homestay'.Please try it ,you will be glad you did !!
I can't wait to go back!

Amazing room for price ! Stones throw from the beach

This is comfortable and relaxing place to stay, with a wonderful Indian family who make you feel very at home.  They also gave us plenty of privacy- great for our romantic weekend.  The location is fantastic, close enough to the sea to hear the ocean waves all night and to eat breakfast from the room with an ocean view.  It is only a short walk from the restaurants, shops and aruvedyic spas of Cherai beach. 

The traditional bamboo rooms are above the family home, and I felt like we were staying in a beachfront treehouse.  The room is decorated in very Kerala style.  The bathroom is large. The rooms have double beds, a small table and chairs. There is no AC, but fans kept us plenty cool.  It is definitely a beach centric stay- there was not any TV or hot water, but both are understandable in a beach bungelow.  Especially one at such an exceptional price.

Every morning a traditional Kerala breakfast served to our room at our requested time. The biggest positive influence is the owner and his family... their customer service and friendliness made the trip very memorable.  I loved twirling in their front yard sand with his kids.

Only negative is that the bed was very, very firm and we are used to sleeping on a softer mattress, but we will be going back :).  A couple helpful notes- bring some bottled water with you, or an electric kettle.  Drinking water was not available in the room without requesting it, and I did not think of it until the middle of the night.  I am sure they would have brought me some!!!

An amazing valuable from an amazing family

This is our 4th year at Nila Homestay. 
We fell in love with the people and the place the first time we came. Rajeev and his family are the perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble. They can arrange cycle hire, scooter hire and auto rickshaws (tuc-tucs) and give sound advice on a whole range of subjects (medical and Ayurvedic treatments, money exchange, what to see and where to go) The breakfasts are wonderful, the wi-fi has been upgraded and the room with bathroom now has 2 fans and is private and secure.
The location is perfect, fronting onto the beach and the Arabian sea. The restaurants and shops are just a 5 minute walk up the road with the town of Cherai junction just a 10 minute ride away.
The whole place just never ceases to amaze and we are already looking forward to making it 5 times next year
