Neelakurunji Plantation Munnar

Neelakurunji is one of the most verdant, pristine and naturally beautiful places I have been to. The trails, streams, natural rock formations are just incredible. It's a great place to getaway with friends or family and just take it slow! A place where kids can scramble on rocks and dip their feet in streams instead of looking at screens. Where you can slow down and listen to birdsong and admire native trees and wild flowers. We did all this and then spent our evenings playing games around the daily bonfire, since the evenings are cold! The grounds are spreading and can accommodate big groups. The house itself is well insulated and the rooms are spacious and well appointed. Most rooms offer spectacular views of the natural forest you are in the middle of. On the flip side though, this place takes some getting to! The last one kilometre or so after you turn off the road and into the plantation is steep and hard going. NOT for the faint hearted. Part of our group reached at night and had to get out of their sedan and walk with flashlights since the car would simply not go!! I would very strongly recommend coming in a four by four and with drivers who have experience of hill driving. One recommendation for the management. The dinner served here is NOT good. Since you have a captive audience that cannot venture out at night, it's only fair to provide something better. Especially since this is a luxury property and meals are charged accordingly.
