53 reviewsOur stay at Varick Villa Homestay was one of the jewels in the crown of our 3 week trip to India! This was a delightful venue comprised of two villas each with three double bedrooms and located in a quiet, residential setting within a well maintained, gated garden compound owned by a retired Indian colonel, who lived on the property and who spoke excellent English. We were a party of 11 travelling by coach although there is a train service from Bangalore. Most of the rooms had air conditioning and all had a ceiling fan. Each villa had a kitchen, dining and lounge areas. The upstairs bedrooms opened on a landing and balcony overlooking the garden. Breakfast was prepared and served to our requirements. The colonel also provided an evening meal if required. The colonel arranged a full programme of activities, which included an early morning walk through the local paddy fields, on which he personally accompanied us, yoga sessions, a massage, a visit to an elephant sanctuary & museum, a full day trip along the canals and backwaters and an overnight houseboat trip through what is rightly known as the Venice of India. A truly unforgettable adventure!
