This was my first travel post covid and I was so impressed!  I always stay in Room #4 
 on the 1st floor and this visit I was there for 12 nights. 
The management took advantage of the lockdown to make many positive changes: the little kitchens in the studios are streamlined and the bathrooms have nicer showers. Also, there were some serious structure changes: a whole new staircase between the ground floor and first floor was put in place. New paint everywhere and cute decorative touches (tiles and rugs) making Hera more homelike, but not cluttered, just cared for. The cleanliness because of covid is apparent and reassuring. Even during my visit new mattresses were delivered and installed on the two upper levels.  There is attention to detail and Lena is always very helpful if you need anything. She can arrange a taxi or other services if necessary.
One thing: service is now every other day, they do leave enough TP etc. and it is less intrusive.
I can hardly wait to go back! I love the easy access to both the old town and the parking lot as well as fine dining and shopping.

As delightful as ever!

We have visited Chania twice in the course of two weeks. The first time we booked a room in pension Lena, which had an amazing location and very homely atmosphere. On our way back to Chania, we contacted Lena(the owner) who was extremely nice and helpful to us. 

This time we got a room in hotel Hera, which was an upgrade from our previous room. While we loved the previous room (obviously, since we wanted to rent it again) we were just astonished seeing our 'studio' in hotel Hera.

It consisted of a nicely equipped bathroom even with a hair drier, small kitchen with everything you might need for a vacation and of course the bedroom itself! If I could, I would definitely move here forever! Words can not describe how cute this room is.

Wooden ceiling, comfortable bed with very soft beddings, perfectly fitting furniture... We just could not be more pleased.

Not to mention that a little terrace provides you with a nice view of Chania's charming streets as well.

The location is also just perfect to enjoy Chania to the fullest. Just a minute or two from the beautiful harbour.

We could only recommend visiting hotel Lena and Hera as well. For us, it met all the criteria for a perfect vacation stay.

Super cute room and a perfect location

I stayed in room 4, first floor studio.  Not my first time, but recent upgrades make a big difference.  Both visible (new bed, excellent mattress in a cozy alcove!) and invisible (fast hot water, great pressure, new generator!) and all the little touches that make a home away from home!  And, I must add, for a Great Price!  I will always stay here.  I also spent a couple of nights in the ground floor studio.  It is really charming for folks  with difficulty climbing the stairs.

This place is totally unfit for use. 
I booked a room for three, and it turned out to be hopelessly cramped, poorly finished, and littered with problems/malfunctions. The worst of which was the broken AC unit – try that for size in late July.
The surly staff member sent to attempt to fix it could barely understood a word of English and failed to fix the unit, meaning we had no choice but to leave and get our money back. 
This took absolutely ages (three weeks) to happen, and only did because of my repeated badgering (including costly phone calls from the U.K. to Greece). 
I also have to point out that the room keys were left hanging outside the door on the main road for me to collect – worst security I ever did hear of. 
This hotel simply doesn’t deserve to be in business. Avoid at all costs.

Totally unfit for use

DO NOT BOOK A STAY AT THIS HOTEL! 

Booked a room at this hotel. In route to Greece they messaged me stating they over booked and that my reservation was cancelled. I explained to them that I didn’t have good internet access and they put me in a difficult position.

 They then offered to find me a place to stay, but I did not hear back from them in a timely fashion. In the meantime, I already booked another location. After telling them this they essentially said too bad, we gave your money to this other hotel and you have to pay them more money in addition to what you paid us to stay there. I never consented to the new location or even the price of the new location. 

They charged me a cancellation fee despite the fact that the cancellation was their fault and refused to return it. I asked Expedia to get  involved. Hera studios told Expedia they would NOT give me a refund. 

I went to the hotel twice over the course of my trip to talk to them and collect the money I was owed in person, but there was no staff and the doors were closed. It seems that service is only available at the convenience of the ownership. 

Additionally, the building does not seem secure. I say this because because no staff was on site. They left notes with keys attached to paper stating the customer name and room number outside of the building by the front door in the open for anyone to see and potentially take the keys or access the room. This is especially unsettling given the fact that many peddlers and gypsy are located less than a block away. 

This is not a proper way to do business. After having to find an alternative place to stay, I can say that there are many other wonderful adorable locations in Chania to stay at.
