We have been staying with Maria and Iannis at Artemis for more years than I can recollect, usually in May and September. The apartments are perfect for a holiday and are kept immaculately clean by Clio on a daily basis. The views over olive groves towards the Cretan coast are beautiful and the location just outside the seaside village of Kalivyes, with a supermarket a walkable distance down the hill is very convenient.

What’s not to love!

Located on a hill, these apartments have great views towards the sea. The rooms on the ground floor have two bedrooms and the top level rooms have one bedroom and a terrace. Beautiful flowers and trees all around the grounds. There is a reasonable sized pool with great sea view. At the pool the wifi connection is great but in the rooms it is rather dissapointing. Maybe this can be improved with amplifying thingies. Supermarket and restaurants in walking distance. We certainly loved our stay here.

Couldn't fault the Artemis apartments in Kalyves. Helpful hosts, always on hand if needed. Cleo kept our apartment clean and tidy. Fabulous views , comfy sun loungers and adorable kittens to keep us amused. 

Couldn't fault

We stayed at Artemis Apartments in September 2022. The villas are located in an olive grove with majestic views of Kalyves and beyond, towards the airport at Chania. It is a peaceful and tranquil location with magnificent gardens and pool. 
The villas are pretty well equipped, with everything that you need for a Greek holiday. The cleaning service is very good; we had room cleaning almost every day, Cleo was very thorough and helpful. Yiannis was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We couldn't fault the service at all.
Kalyves centre is a 20/30 minute walk away. The large Synka supermarket and 3 / 4 tavernas are no more than 10 minutes walk away.
Koumas restaurant was a 10 minute walk and is up in the groves so no need to navigate the hill down to Kalyves.
There were really no negatives at all about the accommodation, surroundings and setting. 
A couple of points to note: the hill up towards the villas from the Supermarket is quite steep. We managed without a car but needed a stop to get our breath back when carrying the shopping back up the the villa. A lot of the residents seemed to have cars, primarily for going back and forth to the village. Secondly, there are no bar or other facilities at Artemis. So if you want a day at the pool, you'll need to stock up on beers and food beforehand.
The overwhelming majority of residents when we were there were retired or close to retired, so it's not party central (but all the more relaxing for that!)

Wonderful Holiday

Like many families we weren’t able to travel last year due to Covid . It was such a disappointment but perfectly understandable .
We were able to return this year and we realised how much we missed this fantastic place . Iannis and his staff were always around to help and nothing was ever too much trouble .
All 10 apartments were busy most of our stay but the place was never crowded . On the edge of the village and in a olive grove I can thoroughly recommend these apartments to anyone wanting a holiday ‘ a away from it all ‘ .

Returning .

We stayed in the Artemis Apartments across the second half of August. From the moment we arrived we know we had made the perfect choice in terms of a self-contained Cretan apartment. The location is stunning, sitting on a hill overlooking the ever-gorgeous Med and the lush olive fields creeping down to the beaches along the coast. Artemis's pool is one of the loveliest we have seen. A perfect size for a decent stretch and also for simple relaxed fun (and generally quiet as there are not too many apartments to make Artemis feel over-busy). The welcome from owners Maria and Yiannis was warm and genuinely welcoming. Any questions or needs they were always available to advise and direct. 

The sweet village of Kalyves is a 10 minute walk along the coast with plenty of restaurants and supermarkets for eating and sticking up. Also there is a large supermarket right at the bottom of the Artemis Hill which was where we happily bought all our provisions for our fortnight. We were going to hire a car for some of the break but decided not to as we were having such a perfect time Artemis style. 


The Perfect Summer Sanctuary

We visited with the family at September. 
The owners, Yiannis and Maria are the definition of true Cretan Hospitality and welcomed us like family. 
The location is wonderful, only some minutes away from Chania, the view is spectacular and the swimming pool, was the most clean and well attended I've seen for many years! 
The rooms were very big, with place for at least 5 adults to sleep, free parking, WiFi, TV, Kitchenette, A/C, Patio, Balcony, etc.
