Kokkina Beach Hotel is a real paradise. The owners have built their own unique holiday universe on the edge of the small town of Finikas. Everything here is very tasteful and well thought out, from the big shaded porch to the well kept grounds. There is a private pool and a nice beach just below the hotel compound. The town has enough restaurants and shops to meet all needs. Not to close, but in walking distance. We loved it!

A peaceful paradise

Finicas is a lovely Greek village on the island of Syros; tthe Kokkina Beach hotel is a short walk up the hill. The hotel commands a lovely view over the entrance to the harbour. We visited this hotel as a party of 8 returning 5 years after our last visit and things had not improved. The rooms are basic and clean, each having its own balcony with a view. There is a lovely swimming pool with sunbeds but not many mattresses.  Apart from our party of 8 I saw only one other guest. That is the good side, now the down side - breakfast on our first day was basic, the scrambled eggs were grey and rubbery! and there was a very limited choice of anything else. The kettle did not work. The second day there were hard boiled eggs but not much else. We complained and asked for fruit and a working kettle which was provided along with a chef! Bearing in mind that this hotel only provided breakfast (the only thing cooked was the eggs) he did not have much to do.

There was beer and soft drinks to be had but our party decided to have a drink before we left for our evening meal, when we visited the bar there was no one there to serve us and on close inspection it was discovered that all the bottles were empty! On complaining again the following night some bottles of gin and some tonic were provided.

The owner was rarely to be found and when he was around he sat at a table chain smoking with the chef!

It is a pity that this hotel is so disorganised if run properly it could have a very good future, however, as it stands a lot of improvements in customer care is required.

It's a shame

The pool and gardens of this hotel are stunningly beautiful and well-cared for. Staff are friendly and the room was well furnished, clean and spacious with a nice big balcony. The only drawback for us was the location - the local village is quite cut off and has not got a great deal to offer.  Fortunately we had a car and were able to find lovely beaches elsewhere. It was, however, very quiet and only partially occupied, which for the end of July/beginning of August, was strange.

Although we stayed in Kokkina Beach hotel 4 years ago and it was lovely we now just wanted to find the boat and leave!!!!!

There was nobody there no staff no guests no nobody like a gost town, except the morning hours when a reseptionist-breakfast lady-gardener -barwoman (1 person in all) was there that baerly spoke English.
If you needed something you had to go to the village so we had to rent a car even to go buy water.

The place is beautifull but the garden looks like nobody is taking care of it (we really missed that grumpy old gardener he was an icon there) 1 cleaning lady 1 lady for everything else no wonder there where no guest for what we payed!!!!!

Maybe the hotel is better off in new hands(owners) I never actually liked the owners always running around not even saying good morning thank god they where not there.

I love Syros and its has many beautifull places to see and wonderfull beaches but I would avoid Kokkina next time I visit Syros.
