I booked Belle Aurore through SkiBound for my school ski trip. 
Some of the previous reviews were a little unsettling, but having run a number of school ski trips I have experienced varying quality of accommodation so decided to go for it. I am so glad that I did. 
When visiting this hotel you have to keep in mind that it is predominantly used by school parties and is set up perfectly for that purpose...

Positives: 
- proximity to the bucket lift. 20m walk that is all. Plus there is the added bonus that you can ski back to said lift 20m away from the hotel at the end of your day. 
- location was central. 3 minute walk to shops, swimming pool and ice rink. 
- in house ski equipment hire with a boot room and ski storage on site. No frozen boots first thing in the morning. Priceless! 
- it is warm. Really warm! You can get your stuff dry no problem each day. 
- the showers provided hot water what ever time of day you chose to shower and the water pressure was excellent. 
- the food! It was hot, good quality and plentiful.  Geared towards school parties but with grown up stuff for us accompanying adults. (Now, of course not all of the students liked all of the dishes but that is par for the course! The food far exceeded EVERY previous school ski trip I have organised!) 
- the staff could not do more for you if they tried.  They were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the resort. 
- plenty of social space for the students with in house entertainment should you wish to book it. 
- bar open for staff and students offering an array of hot and cold drinks and snacks. 
- fresh fruit, tea, coffee and water available to help yourself to. 

Negatives
- some of the rooms were too warm (I’m being picky here!) 
- not the fault of the hotel, but only fair to make you aware that I was woken up every morning before it was light by the beeping and scraping of the snow plow. Although, this was only a problem of course because we had lots of fabulous snow!! 

My staff and students had a great time. Will 100% book again!  



Excellent school ski trip ⛷

Rooms were bigger & better than we thought they would be.  Beds comfortable.  The only downside was you had to hold the shower & there was no shower curtain around the bath.  Water could be cold at times too.   Food was good.  Staff were lovely.  Great location.  Would definitely return 

Great for a school hotel 

I visited this hotel woth my school and i was pretty worried after reading some of the reviews. My room was decent. It was very hot though, and there was no way to cool it down other than to open the window. The lamps were located a few centimetres away from where you lay down on your bed which was quite annoying. While we were skiing the staff made our beds and tided the rooms a bit, no hoovering though. The bathrooms were average and we were provided with a towel and soap. There were a pair of dirty underwear laying on the floor in the bathroom, implying the staff hadnt checked the rooms beforehand. The food wasnt the best. Breakfast was the same every day, it was a selection of cereals, pastries, bread, ham, cheese and fruit. Dinners tasted okay, although they were very small portions and werent the most appealing. Desert was good every day. I would recommend buying a milkshake for €3 as they tasted amazing. The skis and boots were good quality. The staff were very nice, although you could tell they were only young volunteers. The lift was very small and could barely fit 2 people in. At night, children from another floor came up to our floor and were running around and shouting which was very distracting and made it hard to fall asleep. Every night, you would always be disturbed by some sort of noise, whether it was a machine outside, children screaming or giggling or banging noises, you would definitely hear something. The beds were pretty uncomfortable abd the pillowcases and mattress covers werent changed. I found a mouldnt cookie and many sweet wrappers under my bed. Overall, it wasnt the best hotel, but not the worst either. Staff were really kind and helpful and the meals were okay. The rooms were small, but good enough.

Not As Bad As The Reviews Claim

Was a pupil with a school group. Was very impressed with the cleanliness and staff. Very helpfully and kind. Would definitely stay again and would come back to Alpe D’Huez if given the opportunity. Thank you very much to all the staff x

Came with the school and loved it

Was here for a cycling event.  No frills room, breakfast was okay.  But staff was super accommodating and helpful.  All met my expectations other than the staff which exceeded my expectations.  Would come back.

pretty low-end standard room, but exceptional service

We stayed at this hotel for a week in February, the location was beautiful and skiing conditions were great. As well as this we found the rooms relatively comfortable and clean. However , during meal times while the food was edible the portion sizes were measly and we were refused second portions on request, hugely inconvenient considering the holiday is based around skiing and requires a lot of energy. As well as this , the shower was not attached  to the wall meaning we had to hold it above our heads, the power also cut out every time we used a hairdryer. 

Overall the kitchen were accommodating in relation to allergies and dietary requirements however the portions were inadequate and we found that we had to fill up on snacks and supplementary breakfast bars.

Adequate

Visited in February 2020, the rooms were unclean, the food was disgusting to a point at which as a group we used to shop in the local Spar for our meals. The equipment for the skiing was good and spares were available if broken. On the whole a good trip but really let down by the hotel, wouldn't recommend to go to this hotel but would definitely recommend the resort

School Ski trip 

Went with school. Location is good for skiing but oh my god, the portion sizes are tiny!! Especially seeing as you need the energy for skiing. We found ourselves having to go out and buy a second meal to make up for the lack of food. Also the food they gave you was so disgusting you wouldn’t want to eat it anyway, it was tasteless watery under cooked, unbalanced, had hardly any vegetables and everything was mushy. We mostly just ate bread that they had on the side. When we asked for more because the portion size was laughable we were told “no, I have to feed the whole hotel” but at that rate they were feeding no one in the hotel (other than the teachers who were given three courses and didn’t have the same food as we had). So all in all if you want to lose a couple of stone go here. Also the shower/bath had no shower curtain so you have to squat down to stop the room from being flooded and the bath it’s joined to is disgusting so that is out of the question.

Should be a weight loss retreat

Where do I start? The outside of the hotel is appealing, but the same cannot be said for the filth that lies within! Upon entering the front door you are greeted with an old, tattered brown mat which appears black and instantly suggests a lack of maintenance. The carpets are stained and marked throughout the corridors and even the manger herself warns you to wear your shoes around the hotel. The rooms are simply disgusting! The carpets is caked in a thick layer of dust and seems not to have been cleaned since the dawn of time and the walls are marked and bashed around every corner. I accidentally knocked a picture off of the wall which revealed what appeared to be multiple holes drilled by a mad- man is no particular pattern- (please see digram below). The cleaners should be referred to as un-cleaners as I made my bed and returned to the room a few hours later to find it had been un- made and thrown into an approximate folded formation, how are you training these people? There was no shower holder, no towels, no bed sheet replacement during the entire week, no shower products (except for the plastic soap) and 5 coat hangers in a room designed for 4! The design of the room is non- existent: if we closed our sliding wardrobe it would flick the light switch off and large lamp shades were positioned a couple of centimetres above the top of the bed, really people? As for the food, just do not bother. If whatever concoction of random ingredients you are served is cooked is is certainly burnt to a crisp or it is totally anaemic! We were served "curry and cauliflower soup" which of course was... DISGUSTING! The chef is physically inept and incapable fo cooking a chicken nugget from a bag which gave a cooking time. Not one meal was finished by any of the 44 people daring enough to give it a try. There will a hair in your food at some point (again please see pictures). One boy projectile vomited after consuming the so called "lasagne" which was barely supporting its own weight, not to mention the portion sizes suitable for an already fed dwarf! Also the breakfast is the same every morning, consisting of raw croissants and century-old cheese. The staff continue to have the audacity to tell you to enjoy your meal despite their all knowingness of the inedible nature everything that comes out of the kitchen. I cannot imagine the food being any worse, anyone who says the food from this place is good has either been paid or served something from a different restaurant. All inclusive is not all inclusive unless you consider tap water an all- inclusive- worthy beverage, if you would like anything other that the delicious mountain water, a 330ml can of Fanta will set you back 3 euros. I want answers, or I will be writing to Skibound. Apart from this, this hotel is great.

Went here on a school trip and well.. The rooms were very small and really warm, the radiators were on full and there was only a balcony door that could be open for fresh air; the balcony was also shared between 3 rooms which meant other people could walk in if they wanted too. Also, the bath was dirty, the handrail was broken, the smoke alarm was hanging off and there was a yellow stain on the bed. 
The food wasn’t very appetising and you didn’t get much at all. 
The wifi was only available downstairs and was very very slow. 
The only good thing was the location, it was a 1minute walk to the bucket lift and it was right next to the town.
