Very, very small room. Lots of odd stairs between the proper staircase and the room.
Minuscule bathroom. Tatty. On a main road. Nothing going on in Bannes at all, not even a bakery! Breakfast only just ok. A great disappointment. Even Françoise has disappeared and sold on.

A great downer

Warm welcome from the receptionist, who had only just arrived for work and hadn’t opened the hotel yet for the evening. Despite this, she welcomed us and allowed us to check-in before 4:30pm.

Rooms were a bit basic and tired and the noise from lorries passing a few metres from the window was noisy. With no air con, the windows would have to be left open in the summer. Fortunately, the traffic began to quieten down after 10pm. If o stay here again I will be sure to ask for a room at the rear.

The real jewel in the crown was dinner in the restaurant. Absolutely brilliant! We order the set menu which includes 4 courses for €25. Foie Gras, Lamb Skewers, Cheese, then your pick of Desert from the menu. Quite honestly worth double that price and the service was both friendly and attentive to boot. 

A great place to eat

We stayed there one night on our way back from our vacation in Spain. We arrived there at 4.15 pm after a 9 hour drive ,the door was locked, there was a notice in French on the door probably saying the check in is after 4.30 pm. We rang the bell, the owner answered and he said the check in was after 4.30 and that was it he did not let us in. After mediocre rating at the booking.com about the reception , we finally were allowed to check in the owner came down and started shouting very angrily.He said he would call booking.com and he did that apparently because 10 min. later we got a call from booking.com. We were requested not to write a full review of the hotel after our departure and that call took half an hour because the person was so persistent on the issue. The room was clean , it had the things necessary , it is not a bad place but the owner needs to control his anger.I mean it was scary for me.

Unexpected reception

I booked a stay for 6 people here through booking.com.One month before the travel date our plans changed and I cancelled the reservation.
I then got an email saying that I hadn't cancelled both rooms and one remained active. 
I spoke to the booking.com customer service who rang the hotel, and they would not refund. 
I think that the cancellation system must be unclear, or they just do this to make a bit more money. I got charged 79 euros for nothing.
Chez francoise and booking.com can shove their thieving methods where the sun doesn't shine.



Booking . Com scam

On a very hot day we arrived in Bannes which is about 10 minutes outside Langres. The very thoughtfull  owner had left open both the window and the door of our room before arrival, which made it feel very air-conditioned. Very nice. The bedroom and bathroom both small but clean and fresh. After drinks in the reception/bar we were ready for food. And more positive thinking for we were shown out to the garden which was covered by large awnings / umbrellas.Most tables were full but the service was good. As was the food.Pate for my wife, snails for me and then we both had the brochettess of beef. And accompanied by a very good 2006 Arbois Pinot Noir.. It was a very enjoyable visit with nice friendly staff.
