Been there for the breakfast. View from the terrace is very good. Tasty food. Very polite service. Overall impression is that hotel needs renovation. Nevertheless worth of visiting or a one night stay. 

Back in time

The hotel is located in a quiet zone next to the lake which is a plus but it definately requires renovations. The food is acceptable but nathing special.
The staff is generalny nice but the cleaning roomservis is very poor.

Hotel from previous system

This place feels like a joke, really; it evokes a number of contradictory feelings, with - unfortunately - not pleasant aftertaste.
The location is beautiful, literally metres away from the Ohrid lake and far away from civilisation. Please note, though, that if you don't have a car, you better do all your shopping before you check in, as there is literally nowhere to buy snacks or water, and I mean - nowhere for kilometers. The hotel boasts to have aprivate beach, but don't be fooled: it's all cement. The only attraction on the premises is the old Orthodox church.

All the "fun" starts with the room selection. At first we got a room in the main building, with full lake view. The room itself was quite nice, clean, pretty modern, although with no internet access (basically, the slow wifi is only available at the reception area). Unfortunately we had to change it after not even an hour, as it turned out to be located just around... a hornet nest. We were attacked by hornets the minute we walked out on the balcony. When we went to talk to the staff, they admitted that "a couple of rooms have this problem" (!!!) and gave us another room on the 6th floor and it was a bit of a nightmare... The room looked like it hasn't been renovated - and cleaned - in the last 30 years. There was a thick layer of dust and trash under our bed, old and smelly sofas, and a foot-size hole in the bathroom floor. From our balcony we saw not only the lake, but a heap of trash, a dirty, broken roof and some broken windows in apparently an abandoned part of the hotel. It all looked depressing and - quite frankly - not too safe.
Yet another story is the elevator (the one from 4th to 6th floor) which basically doesn't seem safe to use.Not recommended, it's better to walk those 2 floors.
The food was acceptable, but nothing to write home about. The basic hotel stuff, bland and uninteresting.
Maybe my expectations were too high, but I didn't enjoy my time at Biser Hotel. It's not that it's basic: I've spent my time in many very simple places, but simple doesn't have to mean dirty. This place looks like nobody really cares to even mop the floor. It was a bit of a shock that the management didin't even see any problem in that the guests cannot use their balconies because of the hornets (what if someone is allergic or travelling with small kids???). Everyone there looks like they just want to be left alone to do their thing. Maybe it was a hit 30 years ago, but now, sadly, it's just a waste of the lovely location.

Time travel

It would be wrong to describe my experience in this hotel in usual terms: food, room, etc. It is a special place in a very special location and all other practicalities step aside and loose importance. The hotel is bordering with the beautiful orthodox monastery, which has an old cave church dated back to the 14th century, and its most precious masterpiece is the icon of Holy Mother of God, which is the main reason of massive pilgrimage to this place. The legend has it, during the World War II the icon was thrown into the lake several times, but it always returned back. The Holy Mother of God is painted with black face and clothing, holding in her hands the Black Jesus.

Returning to the hotel description - it is all very basic, but decent, reasonably clean, authentic and friendly. One of the other huge pros - its location in the cul de sac road, with no drive through, absence of city noise, on the other hand a reasonable distance to Struga and Ohrid.

The lake is amazing, clean, beautiful, healing. The view is unbeatable. The beach itself could be cleaner and more developed... but once again, you can't have it all. 

Food in the canteen (I would never call it a restaurant) is nothing to write home about, but it is decent, yet unimaginative. You could always get a cheap taxi to the nearest town (Struga) and purchase all kinds of wonderful local produce in the old market. Watermelons, cherries, peaches, tomatoes - all sweet and natural for a fraction of price.

A very special place

Nice hotel, fantastic location with a great view. We loved our stay in this hotel. The room was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Staff are friendly & helpful. The service was amazing. A truly lovely place!

Nice hotel

We were on a 15 days trainings in the hotel so i have great insights of how things work, what is great and what needs improvement. Great is the location. Location is perfect and especially if you need teambuilding or peace and quiet. The staff is also nice. They are helpful as much as they can truing to acommodate every need with what they have. I would advice the hotel to have for them conversational English fast course, it might help in future. 
The food was good for me. They were preparing mainly macedonian dishes and they were good. Above my expectation. I guess i didnt expect much. 
The hotel needs renovation. I am not sure if they are willing to invest in anything but they can make great success it has huge potential. Bike or Bicycle rental would be good. Some water sports props and activities. Rooms can be renovated, in mine the fridge and air con was not working. Housekeeping needs to be controlled, in several ocassions i was finding my pijamas on the floor, they were leaving the door unlocked twice, balcony door opened without curtains pulled and it was full woth bees and wasps. 
Maybe they are happy with the number of guests and not sure the target group, but they can make a lot with it.
