I and my friend have been to presidential hotel for one night and I really appreciate the atmosphere of the hotel specially the stuffs of the hotel awesome, regarding myself I highly recommend the hotel,

Very good location

my 3rd time staying in Presidential Hotel . I'm happy staying in the hotel . I like the hotel service and the location as well. the employees are family-er and very active. I like the rooms are new clean with full room service.

excellent location and hotel service

The hotel is comfortable and located in the center of Addis Ababa. Me and my family stayed there for a week. It was lovely nice staff plus good breakfast. The WiFi was also surprisingly very fast. There is also many coffee shops and supermarket around so we had no problem getting what we needed during our stay. Overall good place.

Nice budget friendly hotel

Our flight from Madagascar to UK necessitated a layover in Addis Ababa.  We didn’t find out the name of the hotel we would be staying in until we got to Tana Airport.  A quick look at Tripadvisor made us think we would be going to a poor hotel.

Our experience, however, was quite different to many of the previous reviews.  The hotel was about 5 minutes from the airport.  We were taken by the hotel shuttle bus.  There was a bit of a delay whilst waiting for other passengers.  We were welcomed at the hotel by smiling receptionists.  We had a large room with a double bed, two armchairs, table, desk and chair, 2-seater sofa, wardrobe and fridge.  The bathroom was fine with a good hot water supply.  Only one towel between us, but soap and shampoo provided.

Dinner was available soon after we arrived - a buffet with bottles of water provided.  Breakfast was very good with excellent coffee.  The chef/waiter was always smiling.

In many ways, the hotel reminded us of basic hotels we stayed in in our younger days in the 1980s.  Modern hotel with 21st-century trappings it is not, but for a one-night stopover it is fine.  We had a decent night’s sleep which is what you want for a layover.

Decent transit hotel

Lovely, polite staff. The receptionists stand up whenever anyone approaches the desk. I like that! Very basic hotel room.  Nothing fancy at all, but clean. Safe. Excellent food! Very flavorful, well cooked dishes. Location in the city is excellent. The TV signal in my room was weak, so I didn't good a lot of channels. Bed could have better fittings.

Lovely staff

They didn’t answer the phone call even though we called several times after reaching airport. Somehow one local guy called and requested for the pick up but they denied. They also said that they don’t have any booking information as we didn’t book directly to them. However, after reaching hotel by a local taxi they accepted our booking confirmation but they cheated on the room that we booked. They only gave us one corner suit instead of two. They said 2nd corner suit is unavailable. 2nd room wall paintings were moist and plaster were falling down. Breakfast is too crowded.

no internet. deposited dollars and got back ethiopian money that i could not exchange.

Like most people I ended up there for 1 night on transit with Ethiopian airlines. 
Hotel is past its best and needs maintenance, although some rooms are better than others.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Main 2 issues for me were the bad mattresses and the loud music from accros the street for most of the night (not much the hotel can do about this).

I hope I am not already biased by previous experiences. This hotel needs some quality checks + investment to renew at least the toilets.

Seating on the WC, I got water leaking from the top floor, probably the upper toilet, hopefully not the WC pipeline. The toilet looks very unclean, untidy, in need of some serious cleanup. Maybe Ethiopian would allow passengers to chose their hotels at an additional cost if requested, or maybe Ethiopian would need to inspect these hotels once in a while and come up with some standards.

Anyway, probably this is what makes it an affordable airline, comparing to others with the same high safety records.

Nevertheless, this is not about Ethiopian, it is about the hotel they put me in when I missed a connection. I asked to be lodged in the Sheraton, and the steward told me they do not have any agreement with the Sheraton, instead he would send me to a very nice hotel.

I am not asking for much, but things like a toilet must be functional and clean. I won't post pictures, 'cause they look very nasty. The cupboard smells of humid wood, you put your clothes in there, and the next thing they smell like the cupboard.

Very basic TV channels, not all of them viewable due to bad quality of image.

I am entering this in my profile so that I remember which one not to go to ever again.

Terrible bathroom, bad restaurant, good staff

Our Ethiopian flight was delayed so we missed our connection in Addis. The airline put us up here - bad mistake on their part. When you miss your flight and can't get to your luggage, you need a place that offers amenities.

Here is the shame of it: this hotel really has potential. It has a lovely little lobby with a nice chandelier; Wi-Fi was available; the bedrooms we had were all fairly large and included a TV;  the bed was comfortable. BUT....

It wasn't well kept up. Walls needed paint and patching, wardrobe needed fixing, the toilet came apart in three sections, there were no towels or shampoo (had to ask for it, and some rooms never saw their delivery in spite of being told they'd have towels sent up in the morning), no hair dryers, it had very small, wet bathrooms (WHO invented the idea? It is terrible not to have a separated shower. No one wants water on everything.). Also, though the mattress was comfortable, we were very suspicious of not having a top sheet and only having the duvet. Given the state of the rest of the hotel, we assume the duvet cover is not washed each time.

The next issue is the food. We were offered three meals, but the restaurant is tiny and the food they put out as a sort of buffet stayed out -- but not over ice or in warming pans as the case may be. It just sat out, getting to room temperature and a nice bacteria count. Western stomachs do not deal well with that. I think all of us who were put up in the hotel opted to eat elsewhere.

The front desk staff was very nice and concerned for us. They had ginger tea and coffee brought to us several times while we sat in the little lobby playing games. For that reason, I hate to give this a low rating, but I have to be honest. Hotel owner/manager, if you're reading this, you can charge a little more and make all the changes to bring this hotel up to par. It has potential.
