Steigenberger Resort Achti Luxor

My husband and I have just returned from 7 night stay at this hotel. It was our first visit to Luxor. We found the hotel to be a great base for our holiday. I requested a high floor, which we were allocated a room on the top floor with the most wonderful view of the Nile and beyond. The room was clean, water, coffee etc restocked each day and great sized bath towels and the most huge, comfortable bed! Breakfast was lovely. There was a huge choice available. Many pastries, egg station, pancakes, fresh juice, nobody should complain about there not being enough choice! We ate at Nino’s Italian which is in the Hotel grounds. The owner El Tayeb is a great host and looked after us. The pizzas were beautiful! We did a lot of trips and when not on a trip, we used the large pool to relax. This was a great pool, it was heated, sunbeds were extremely comfortable, and excellent efficient service by all staff, especially Ahmed the barman who was a credit to the hotel, polite, professional and nothing was too much trouble. Also pool attendants Ahmed and Mohamed and the third man (his name escapes me). All very attentive and helpful. And we witnessed some abuse from fellow guests due to there not being a sunbed available and they handled the situation very well… We also used the spa for a relaxing massage. I highly recommend! Excellent value for money brilliant massage! Checkout time was 12pm and we weren’t being picked up until 3pm. The hotel allowed us to keep our room on for a little longer and this was really appreciated. There was a lot of hassle when leaving the hotel grounds, which I know will put people off. I know people are trying to make a living, and I am polite and would chat with them and politely say no, but I feel that for other people, this would be an issue. We had a wonderful time in Luxor and think it is an amazing city. This hotel was a great choice and I’m sure we will return and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and I’ll definitely recommend to friends! Just a couple of helpful observations: Maybe some more sunbeds around the pool area. The money exchange machine did not accept GBP£ (I think it normally does but was not working) Slight inconvenience. Advertise the Spa more Coffee machines a bit temperamental But many thanks to all the lovely staff for making us feel so welcome…
