Nice room, excellent multiple pools and nice educated staff in general. Must be careful when leave cellphones or other personal items inside the room. Mine  was stolen and mysteriously one towel despair and  i have to pay an excessive  fee for the item. So again be careful. I will recommend to take a couple of beach towels with you and used outside the room. I did complain, but unable to proceed with further investigation due to technical specification and time. There is a lock box in every room, please used for safety.   The food was average for the price in the daily buffet. They can improve the quality, and they should! . My advice let the chef go to travel to the other  resorts in others places of cuba and if possible to the Caribbean to share experiences and improve the offers. We had a good time in general.

We stayed in February 2020 for a week in Memories, and we did enjoy it a lot! The staff was very kind! We made some nice (organized) trips in Cuba and experienced and saw culture - we visited Holguin and Santiago de Cuba.
The food was good, but mostly the people made it great. We had plenty of lobster and other nice dishes. The restaurants with menu aren't that great, however, the buffet was good.
We also enjoyed the nice cocktails, especially the ones in the lobby.
Also the beach is good, you can sail away!
I would recommend everyone who would like to relax and just have fun to go to this place.

My husband and I made our first trip to Cuba in early March and chose Memories Holguin. The resort lived up to all our expectations - beautiful pools, great food and fantastic friendly service all the time we were there. The staff really go the distance to make sure your holiday is comfortable and fun. 

There were occasional shortages of specific supplies in the restaurants while we were there, but they were short lived and since there was so much else to choose from, it didn't really effect us.

I highly recommend this resort for future travel and will certainly consider going back again. We met many people while we were there who had visited multiple times and I can understand why.

Fantastic vacation!!

We visited for 2 weeks March 6-20th. We chose diamond club again which turned out to be a waste of money. Premium bottles of liquor disappeared quickly as usual. Sunwing advertises an exclusive lunch at an a la carte restaurant which just doesn't exist. (the main reason we bought diamond club). the diamond club area in the lounge has disappeared and the waiter service at the beach was offered only 1 day out of 14. A repeat customer will receive almost the same level of service for no extra money.  The resort itself has only gotten better. The washrooms were so much cleaner than our last visit...and yes they even had toilet seats... mostly. The beach bartenders were super friendly as always and were good at remembering what we drank. New food at the beach snack shop was added. they offered hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, fries, and we even had fried chicken there one day. We loved eating there . Had a clean room and hot water every day. A la carte dinners were great and buffets were pretty good too, especially the gala dinner on Wednesdays. Melina greeted us with a huge smile, a good morning and a delicious omelette which set our great mood for the day. The staff at the lobby bar very friendly and often entertaining to watch. Overall we had an awesome time again and will be returning again in January but only as a repeat customer.

another great trip

There is nothing bad to say about this resort. We took a family vacation to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. We also decided to renew our vows in front of our children.
Luis made our vacation memorable. From the first day we got to the resort, to the day we left, he made sure everything was to our liking. He worked so hard to make our ceremony the best it could possibly be. After the ceremony we were treated with dinner at a gazebo overlooking the ocean and a beautiful wedding cake (which was delicious) 
The next evening we had great lobster dinner at the Mojito Bar to celebrate my husband's birthday.
The pool area was beautiful, very well take care of. Rooms were clean, Tanya did an excellent job, especially on the night of our vow renewal ceremony.
I would definitely recommend the resort to anyone who is thinking of a wedding or vow-renewal.

Great family vacation in March 6-13/2020

Where do I start? I'll try to keep our review as objective and non-emotional as possible. I am 39 and my sister 43, we are both  well-traveled with regular vacation spots in the Caribbean where we find ourselves in a minimum 4 star or better resort.  My sister was very skeptical to go to Cuba but since I found a deal with a Diamond Club Upgrade we decided to give Cuba a go.  Expectations weren't as high as usual knowing that Cuba carried a reputation for bland food and dirty hotels.  So we went in thinking that the diamond club upgrade would give us a better experience.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with delicious cocktails. The lobby was nice, open and airy. We were directed to the Diamond Club for registration where they were unable to find our reservations as we booked the day before.  After much confusion we were told to line up at the front desk where they too could not find our reservations.  No one at the front desk was smiling, we were not greeted properly, no one spoke English and one girl put her finger up and turned her back to us as we were speaking.  Ladies..., you are the first impressions of the hotel so maybe that horrible feeling would have disappeared if we were treated a bit better right form the beginning.  We were sent to Room #621 via trolley, the driver carried our luggage's to the 2nd floor.  Once we opened the doors we realized it had not even been cleaned yet and on top of that there was only 1 twin bed and a cot.  We had requested 2 double beds.  After notifying the front desk of their mistake or someones mistake they said someone was coming to change our rooms right away.  Apparently to them "right away" means half an hour later.  Already frustrated, tired and hungry we were finally picked up via trolley again and taken to Room # 528.  This room had 2 twin beds pushed together and a cot but at least this is what we asked for.  My sister proceeded to use the bathroom and the door fell on her, the fridge was empty and was not working.  Also, as part of diamond club we were supposed to receive a welcome bottle of liquor and none of these things were in sight.  We decided to just make due with what we had after all we were steps away from the main building, pools and beach compared to that of the distance from Room 621.  Location kept us quiet until a few hours later. We went for lunch at the buffet which for Cuba was actually not bad at all in my opinion not my sisters. I would give the buffet a rating of 6/10.  That evening, we proceeded to the lobby bar as this seemed like the place to be once the sun went down.  We sat in the smoking area of the bar and no one came to serve us.  We tried to wave one waitress down, I wish I caught her name, I was told later that she is a student, she never looked our way so we decided to go to the bar ourselves.  Dayami, the bartender (10/10) at this bar was amazing, actually come to think of it most of the bartenders at this bar were amazing.,  Thank you for some good service Lobby Bar.  I immediately found a new waiter, my go to for the rest of the trip,  Ibrahim (10/10) thank you for bringing me my cappuccinos, mojitos, pina coladas and bringing me my astray that the other student server kept taking away.  After my first mojito I tried to order another one and apparently they ran out!!! Mojitos are Cuba's national drink and they were out of them????!!! No consistency what so ever thank goodness mojitos were not our only choice of drink but sometimes when I asked for a daiquiri they were out of these as well??? SMH.

Day 2, we woke up and still nothing in our fridge. These fridges were to be stocked daily and as a Diamond Club member we were supposed to have a bottle of liquor given to us as part of the upgrade but we still hadn't received anything yet.  We then proceeded to the front desk to notify them about our washroom door, empty fridge and were told that they would fix everything while we went to the beach.  On our way to the beach we were greeted by Yisel (10/10)  the towel lady and one of the sweetest employees at the resort, always smiling and giving great customer service.  After 3-4 hours at the beach all we wanted to do was shower and get ready for dinner so we headed back to our room but we noticed quite a few power outages.  Both room keys that were given to us were not working so we had to proceed back to the front desk.  Our 2nd encounter there the ladies were still very rude and we were told all the keys  were having issues because of the outages.  They told us to go back to our room and that someone would be waiting for us there to open our door with a master key. So we followed their instructions and waited and waited and waited. 2 hours later, 6 phone calls (made through neighbors) later and after climbing the balcony in hopes that the sliding door would be open, which it was not, the maid finally was able to let us in.  10 minutes later someone came with the master key....a little too late now. Note to front desk: DO NOT TELL CUSTOMERS RIGHT AWAY AND MAKE THEM WAIT 2 HOURS!!!

After speaking with Ariannis (10/10) from customer service and Imad (10/10) management, we were immediately given our Diamond Club bottle of alcohol and things in our room started being fixed.  Thank you guys for all your efforts in ensuring our stay was better from then out.  Without you I think the trip would have been a real disaster.  Others to mention going forward...the entertainment staff, you guys are AMAZING!!! Especially...Erik(10/10), Eysdel(10/10), Emil(10/10) and Daniel (10/10) you definitely kept my week entertaining. Thank you for all your help with activities, dances and helping show us around.

Some things I need to add to mention in this review.  Make sure you bring a really good bug spray.  I was literally attacked by some vicious bites.  When I arrived back home I was in the emergency department! My feet were swollen, my body was bruised and bites everywhere with pictures as proof.  Also bring a good allergy medication if you are allergic to cats because there are more than 10 that wander the resort. Bring your own ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce it really does help with the food. All in all it really depends what you are looking for when you travel.  My standards were not high at all because I have been to Cuba before...the people are what make this place beautiful and the lifelong friends that I made.  Other than that, try to avoid the front desk if you can or maybe the resort can do something about them at the front.

Near the end of the trip I wanted to stay a few days extra but could never find our Air Canada representative.  Believe me next time we will be choosing another airline (Sunwing's rep was always there).  I hope this review is helpful to those choosing a place, hotel and airline to travel with.

I wrote this as a review as well as a complaint.  I was told because I was no longer at the hotel that I needed to submit my complaint to my travel agent and then re-directed to customer service.  I have attached photos for those that need to see.  My sisters review has not been posted yet as her opinion is different then mine (much worse).  I hope you are able to do something to help.

Memories Holguin Beach Resort

This was a last minute vacation in November 2019 just before the winter;Actually a 4 days trip for me and my spouse.

It’s true, instead of 4 days at home we decide to go to Memories Holguin Beach Resort.

It was a late arrival 02:00 am local time and the entry staff were very friendly and accommodating.
 
The room atmosphere and amenities, were unsatisfactory; the level of cleanliness was unacceptable. Unfortunately there was no hot water for 3 nights. 

There were lots of tiny bugs, which bit us and gave us an itchy rash.

We visited two restaurants à la carte Mojito’s Bar and the under the Sea.  

The Mojito’s Bar had a pleasant atmosphere. I thoroughly recommend the lobster which was cooked to perfection; the service was attentive and friendly. The decor and ambiance topped the evening as it was next to the pool.

The under the Sea was the sea food restaurant, we have tasted some delicious food in our lifetime,

But we were not pleased about this restaurant regardless the service was ok.

Also remember the beach it is a man-made beach, which was not as clear as expected. The impression you have about Cuban beaches did not reflect what we experienced.  

The hospitality and friendship of the resort's staffs was delightful.

All genuinely friendly and happy to help regardless for a 4 days trip and three nights,
I will not recommend the 
Memories Holguin Beach Resort.

Last minute vacation in November

I booked this hotel as a last minute and I was NOT disappointed. This was my first time visiting Cuba together with my mother. We both loved it. Cubans are such friendly, warm and lovely people! And also unbelievable hard workers! Everybody was so helpful and this was also the case for the other visitors (mostly from Canada). I hope one day I will return to this hotel!

The animation team was super friendly! 
The food was just fine, there was always enough and staff immediately asked if you wanted to drink something.
The beach was clean, with amazing clear water. And we had a day of clouds and rain and the people on the beach made sure to clean the algaes. 

Also, we didn't know people were lacking the basic necessities like shampoo, toothpaste, paracetamol and anti-biotics (because of the embargo put on Venezuela). So please if you come there, make sure to bring extra products (or even clothes) with you, you will make them so happy!

In conclusion I can state that this was one of my best vacations ever, I got to know new people from Canada and Cuba and the beach was amazing.

First time Cuba - A M A Z I N G !!!

I have just returned form a 1 week stay feeling unsettled with the lack of security. There was a sexual preditor visitor from another country and even after complaining to many staff and requesting the call police nothing was done . They said they would put security on our building whicch never happened. Ther are some good points to this resort but do not travel here alone or with girls there is no security to protect you from sketchy men
