Casa Gaitán Cortés Hotel by Sercotel

The hotel is nicely situated and very close to some nice bars and restaurants. The room we were in (8) was very spacious and comfortable. The bed was perfect with lots of different pillows to choose from. The bathroom was massive. There was double glazing which cut the noise from outside down. Staff were friendly and helpful. My wife speaks fluent Spanish but even my own poor language skills were enough to get around. On the first day we walked from the hotel all the way down to Bolivar Square which took about an hour along Carrera 7 although you can walk down to 13 and take the TransMilenio. Journeys are COL$1700. You can obtain and load a card from the booth with a certain amount of journeys. We did encounter lots of helpful people at bus stops who heard us talking in English and pointed us in the correct direction unprompted. Of course we kind of knew were we wanted to go so that helped with trust. They were all keen to ensure we didnt go off the wrong way. When we left they sorted us a taxi which came and took us to the airport at around 7am. It took around 25 minutes. On our last night we stayed at another place close by and it took almost 1.5hrs at 1800. Leave plenty of time if you are doing the same.
