Lijiang Flower Inn

We stayed at Lijiang Flower Inn for two nights and felt right at home there. The hostel is located in a much quieter, calmer, and more authentic part of Lijiang Old Town, and yet it's quick and easy to walk to the busier market sections. It's wonderful to return 'home' to peace and quiet after experiencing the loud, crowded nightlife areas. The room itself was clean and quiet, with pretty bed covers and purple walls. It had everything we needed: ample hot water in a nice-sized shower with a curtain, in-room kettle, blow-dryer, and a television. The beds were soft and comfortable, which is rarely the case in China. We definitely appreciated the good night's sleep! We also enjoyed sitting in the artfully designed courtyard just outside our room and chatting with the soft spoken and incredibly friendly caretaker, Leon, who even offered us a taste of his homemade wine. Leon is well-traveled and speaks fluent English, and he told us to contact him if we have any questions during the rest of our several-month trip in Asia. The whole staff really went out of their way to give us directions and help us out. They also let us leave our packs for a day and a half while we did the overnight hike at Tiger Leaping Gorge. And when I accidentally left my stuffed animal behind, Leon found it for me and offered to mail it to our hostel in Shanghai. They really care about their occupants and obviously go the extra mile to ensure a quality experience.
