Donghai Jiachen International Hotel

I was not expecting much from a hotel in the area when I was told that I would have to overnight in Donghai County, but I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The room was relatively spacious and very clean, and was stocked with robes, slippers, and even an iron! Bed was quite comfortable and I loved the shower - it was designed so that you are standing on a platform, and the water drains off the platform immediately, so your feet are never in a pool of water. Room also came with two complimentary bottles of water, and they left some fruit at night. There are local restaurants a 10-15 minute walk away, and it was easy to get a taxi in the morning. Breakfast was nothing special, but had a range of selections to choose from. On the flip side, air conditioning was not working when I arrived, but they fixed it once I called to ask. The water in the taps and bathtub were brown at first with some black sediment, but the tap cleared out after running it for a bit. Staff were friendly and informative. I never tested their english, so unsure how they would fare from that perspective. Wifi was included in the price, and was quite quick - 30mb down/20up. No problem streaming Youku or connecting to my VPN. All in all, I was quite pleasantly surprised by this hotel. For the price - just over 600rmb for an executive room - it was a good value. I would even stay in this hotel if it were located in another city! If I ever need to overnight again, I would stay here.
