The service is so good at this quirky hotel, it’s hard to give it anything but a solid rating. I wasn’t expecting the Four Seasons, but I’ve seen cleaner toilets in a prison and the bed was rock hard, even by Chinese mattress standards. The place is nicely located to explore Old Street and other parts of the city, but it needs to work on it hygiene and amenities.

I want to like this place, but...

We just love this place. It has the traditional Chinese look and feel but with all the modern facilities (it even has heated floor). We got the best room (#201). It has the best view. They are so generous in leaving excellent Chinese tea for guests to enjoy in our room and tea hall. 

Wonderful Stay at Su House

Such a unique property and the place to stay in Tunxi! We spent the night here after the yellow mountains before going baxk to Shanghai. It’s gorgeous, clean, excellent and kind staff and  breakfast is delicious and a very charming place! Kailaintheworld.com

Great place to experience culture

Lovely, very old traditional Chinese building with rooms and common areas refurbished with modern amenities.  Comfortable stay, helpful staff.  Tunxi Old Town is only a few minutes' walk away and the hotel is within a busy neighbourhood of shops, restaurants, music clubs, street food, etc.

Charming old house in excellent location

We loved this hotel and had a fabulous stay, but it's a small guesthouse in a period building, so may not suit everyone.  On the plus side, the building has real character, the staff are lovely, the courtyard cafe is a great place to relax and take a drink and the local area is very good  for food and drink options, while  not being far from the ancient street.  The breakfast was delicious.  On the downside, the property is small (6 rooms), made of wood and rooms open onto the courtyard.  Sounds in the courtyard are audible in the rooms, and vice versa if you're noisy.  The bathrooms are modern, but a bit industrial in appearance with rendered walls.  Smoking was allowed in the courtyard, despite signs saying it was prohibited.Overall, we heartily recommend this hotel.

Go stay in Gozu Su

My husband told me that this is an old hotel when he booked it, I did not know what to expect. Funny that when we got in there, I thought this might not be safe, as we had to lock the room door with a padlock from outside. It was safe. It is traditional, of course there are no soundproofing, it is a really old house, wood and all that but inside the room, the amenities, the room was refurbished. I think they kept the foundations as original but refurbished the rest. 

Breakfast was quite good and this is located in the center of the old town. Around it were cinemas, plazas and lots of restaurants and cafes. 

To get into the hotel, an attendant picked us up where the taxi dropped us off and walked with us to the hotel. Travelling from hotel to airport, they did the same thing but with their arranged transport for us. Service was good, all smiling faces and every one trying to communicate in English with us which we appreciate so much.
