We are currently living in Jilin province but hadn't explored much further than the town where we work, our visit to Changchun was our first attempt at travelling within the country without a Chinese speaker. We booked the hotel online taking in some Tripadvisor comments and were not disappointed. The bedroom we had was basic, with minimal but sufficient furniture but space for more. To our western bodies, the bed was pretty hard - as per Chinese  custom and practice, but no harder than other places we guess. The shower-room/toilet wet-room was compact but again sufficient and towels were changed daily. Although spartan - one chair, small desk, wardrobe, bed & TV no fridge, no drawers or shelves for clothes; everything worked that needed to, there was a kettle and complimentary bottled water on arrival.

We were traveling with two colleagues and asked the staff for a restaurant suggestion, the manager took us to the hotel's restaurant, called in the staff and by the use of a good app on her phone, translated the menu for us. 

The staff reception team were so gracious and helpful, they were patient with our very limited language and poor pronunciation and took the stress out of our stay. They were polite and professional at all times and truly went the extra mile to help us. They made every effort to ensure that we felt welcome in their city and hotel and were wonderful ambassadors. What the hotel lacks in luxurious comfort it more than makes up for in hospitality and is excellent value for money - we would recommend it readily for a short stay.
