Couette & Café (B & B) À la Québécoise

   The place is very neat and clean, the breakfast was especially greeting and warm as we sat with other people in the hotel to eat lovely and plentiful meals with fruit, eggs, french toast, and your choice of either tea or coffee. 
   The owner is also wonderfully versed with knowledge of the city, he can even offer you a very interesting history lesson about the Quebecois and their backstory. The quality of which he explains things triumphs over museums for sure.

If you seek a more authentic experience of Quebec, away from the hordes of tourists that crowd the walled "museum" city, you can't go wrong here.  For those with stair climbing limitations or who MUST have a private bath,  this is not your spot.  The no frills street level entrance is not reassuring, but the super clean, quiet, tastefully appointed second level and the always on sight owner provide quiet, comfortable sleep, excellent orientation to the city, and a to your own order breakfast.  An added bonus is a delighted deck outside the breakfast room.  Only a few blocks walk to the elevator to the old city and  the sidewalk cafe lined streets.......Good for your health and your travel budget.

We wanted to stay there for 2 nights, but decided to stay another night. Robert and Josée the best hosts you can imagine. Very friendly and kind. The rooms are very clean, breakfast is great and it's just a 10 minute walk from the city center. Best value for money there is. 

Went with a friend, first time visiting Quebec. I suggested the Couette & Cafe.
Most friendly and charming place I ever stayed.  Mr Robert Bertrand, the owner, most interested man, he will tell you the history about Quebec and where to go and what to see. Josee, the helper comes every day at 8 o'clock. serving breakfast to your liking with the help of Mr Bertrand. A real feeling of home, the use of the fridge. I am a early riser and I will make the coffee in the morning and sit on the patio, enjoying it. Awesome.  Mr Bertrand very pleasant and charming and always there.  Rooms are spacious and homey in the hearth of Quebec city. TV and wifi if need it.

We arrived just before 9pm, the owner Robert is very friendly. He lives upstairs so he is available whenever. The inside is clean and very cozy. 
There are 5 bedrooms to rent out. One shared full bathroom for everyone. A large kitchen with a eating area, and another dining area. 
The breakfast is served to order from 8am-10:00am. Made fresh we had 2 choices to choose from everyday. Fresh coffee and tea anytime.
The walk to get downtown is about 15mins a little longer for Older Quebec. There is a delicious restaurant called Pub du Parvis which is a few blocks away and has Tv's and great beer selection!

I found this B&B to be clean and quant. I recommend a back room if you don't want to hear a lot of street noise.
