My husband and I stayed in Zen bungalows and it was lovely. It's tucked away in the village so it's nice and quiet. We had a view of the whole ocean! The outdoor movie nights are fun too! The management and staff are very welcoming and accomodating. Definitely worth a stay when you're in Koh rong!

Beautiful views and chilled vibes

Zen s location in island is a huge benefit. There is only one main Street in Koh Rong and Zen is on the top Of the Street on a tiny hill. There is always a nice breeze even when downtown is so hot in high seasons. Bungalows are clean and plain. The new owners running Zen way betten the ex ones. In its Restaurant beside delicious menu and snacks every night they screen some movies. With popcorns in our hands, lying on our comforable matris we enjoy the movie. 

Quite and catchy point

We came here a few years back when this was just built, and it was lovely. We were excited to return and found that it was TOTALLY different a few years later. This place is absolutely filthy and the people who are hanging around are quite dangerous. We heard that, because of a shady deal with the police, the owner was forced away from the property and a group of dangerous people took it over. They didn't build it and never invested any money in it ––it's all shockingly horrible. Get the word out to keep people away from here for their own safety. And shut it down so these horrible shady people don't make another cent.

DON'T GO HERE!

Wow, just wow! I wish I checked the TripAdvisor reviews before booking this place on Agoda.com
We arrived today to check in here, we knew it was basic but after reading the reviews on Agoda we decided that it would suit us fine.
So we arrive to check in and there is some guy behind the bar ignoring us, he was clearly high on drugs, we say we have a booking, he doesn’t even ask for our names or nothing and takes us to a bungalow with 2 sets of bunk beds, a mattress on the floor and a sofa bed, it seemed like there were a few people living there. The moment we decided to leave is when we found that one of the beds was full of bugs and what seemed to be poop, maybe mice...? The mosquito net had so much sh*t on it too! There were some sort of bug’s eggs/nests hanging from it and over the bed, i don’t think anyone had checked that bed in weeks. No standards at all. We decided to leave on the spot and informed the guy we would go somewhere else, he just said “ok but you have to pay” yeh right, see you later dude and good luck with running a stolen business. 
I’ve just come on TA to see what people say and found out that all the good reviews on Agoda are put up by the “new owners” some Turks that stole this business from someone else by doing some shady deals with the cops. 
Go somewhere else.

STAY AWAY!

I cannot believe I am reading the horrible history that surrounds zen bungalows after staying there for 2 nights last week!

I found zen bungalows online and after looking at a few pictures decided it would be the perfect place for me and my partner to relax for a few days in Koh Rong.

Upon arrival the men behind the bar area seemed really friendly and welcoming. 
The bar and kitchen area has a really nice vibe and the only nice thing I can think to say about the place is that it was nice to have a drink while overlooking the view of the jungle..but that was IT!!
Rooms were basic but at $10 a night we weren’t complaining (although there are FAR cheaper on the beach front)

Not once were we offered breakfast in yet we were lead to believe it was included. Both days they were building and told us the kitchen was closed because of this. Would of been understandable had they not been cooking for themselves right in front of us!!

If this wasn’t enough they decided to have a party in the bar area on our second night stay at 3am!! Blaring out music and shouting which went on for a good 3 hours. When my partner went to complain their response was an arm shrug followed by a ‘sorry we’re drunk’

If this wasn’t enough they then started building again by 6:30am!!

This place is an absolute joke and I’m so sorry to read about the poor previous owner who has had to deal with these awful thugs. I hope your situation gets sorted soon!

The only good thing we got out of this experience was that that we paid them $8 for a 2 night stay instead of $20. Not because we complained about the previous night either, but because they had no idea how long we had been there or what we had agreed to pay. Absolutely clueless. 



AVOID AVOID AVOID 

I hate to leave a bad review of anywhere but I feel like people should know about this place so they don’t waste their time and money like we did. We booked this accommodation based on the reviews we read, but upon closer inspection we learned that the only good reviews are from the owners themselves. 
We checked in and arrived in the bungalow to find rat droppings on the mosquito net and didn’t feel very welcome. 
When we mentioned the droppings the host shrugged his shoulders and didn’t seem to care at all. 
We left after ten minutes and were asked to pay for two nights but we insisted that we would only pay for one. We’ve lived in Asia for a year and are well accustomed to staying in home stays but honestly this isn’t worth your money. Plenty of other places on the island on the beach front.
