Amazing views beautiful water and quiet the staff was great food and service were always great

If you want quiet and private this is the place for you. When we first arrived at the island we thought we were the only guests there. They only have 15 couples at one time stay on the island. Staff was extremely accommodating. Such a beautiful place to stay plus plenty to do.

Came here for a study abroad trip for research in the reefs. This place was paradise! First off, the employees were excellent and great people to get to know. I also loved all of the activities to do on the island. The highlight was definitely the snorkeling as we saw lots of marine life including a few nurse sharks! Great place!!

Paradise

We stayed at the resort for 4 nights (11-15 May 2024) and were the only guests for 3 of those nights! The 4* rating is for our entire experience at the resort and hopefully I’ll get to write a review about that but primarily I want to mention the snorkelling and Stacey our excellent snorkelling guide.

You are able to snorkel from the beach.  Wind/current conditions were not great for our visit but it was still enjoyable.  Amongst other things I saw an immature barracuda, live conch shells and a small spotted eagle ray.  But book a snorkelling/dive trip at the resort to see the stunning reefs nearby.  The variety and beauty of the corals, sponges and fish species  were extraordinary.  Stacey was superb, 5*+. I had own equipment but she ensured my husband had properly fitting equipment and, as he is not a confident snorkeller,  made sure he had a buoyancy aid.  Having discussed wind/sea/visibility conditions with Kevin (boat captain) over 3 mornings we visited 2 different reefs.  Stacey quickly assessed our ability in the water, ensured we were always safe and was superb at identifying what we were looking at - always trying hard to make sure we didn’t miss anything.  Her manner was friendly, approachable, informative and very professional.  We would have no hesitation in recommending Stacey.  Also mention must be made of Kevin who was also very pleasant and professional; always checking the ocean and conditions when we were in the water to ensure our safety.

Snorkelling at Pelican Island Resort, South Water Caye, Belize

Leaving Dangriga you quickly lose sight of land. Some 30 minutes later this idyllic tropical paradise rises from the horizon. A typically warm Belizian welcome and we’re shown to our cabana, elevated on stilts, the balcony gazes down onto the shallow, turquoise, coral sand waters, the reef a mere 50m away. A tropical paradise. Service is cheerful, friendly, attentive. Be prepared for a sometimes uninspiring set menu but wholesome and well prepared. The cocktail menu is first class. This is a truly tranquil escape, minimalist rather than luxury but perhaps that’s what makes it so special!

Your own tropical island

The resort is remote, quiet and beautiful. The staff is great and cabins are supper.

From the moment I came to the island to the time I departed I was in a beautiful paradise.  I was greeted by some of the employees  with a sign out front with my name on it that said "Welcome to Pelican Beach. 
The cabanas and lodge rooms were roomy and decorated with a tropical theme and local artists.  The meals were delicious, fresh and local cuisines with a decorative flair. The employees on the island were fantastic, helpful and very knowledgeable with the flora and fauna on the various trips.  I did three snorkel trips and a night snorkel.  I also went on a manatee and bird watch.  All of these trips I would highly recommend. 
I felt like a princess the whole time I was there.  ( traveling solo)  I would recommend Pelican Beach Resort on South Water Caye to families, couples, groups and solo.  I am so glad that I was able to experience this lovely place and people!!

A beautiful paradise with wonderful employees equals the perfect getaway!

We spent 4 days in the Pélican South Water Caye resort. Everything run good : the incredible blue sea, the friendly service, the pacefull rooms and the different activities (scuba diving, paddling, etc). It has been a wonderfull experience.

Everything was amazing from the moment we arrived. Highly recommended.

The moment you step off the boat, you know it’s going to be an amazing. The bar tender was waiting for our group with drinks and that was just the beginning. The staff introduced themselves and became friends with our group immediately. This eco friendly and pristine family owned resort should be at the top of your list. We had the whole island to ourselves and the best service you could ask for!
