Me and my brother were visiting Oudenaarde for the famous Ronde van Vlaanderen. Arrived on Saturday April 1st (I'n not joking) for our own experience on the cobblestones and for the race on Sunday. The entrance remains closed all the time, it takes ages before someone opens it up. And it will be locked immediately behind you. This hotel is the most disgusting experience I ever had. As the owner -a chainsmoker- dubble booked, me and my brother where offered to sleep in his penthouse above the hotel. I looked with increased curiousness to the dust in the closets where the glasses and bottles were. Maybe the penthouse was a bit cleaner? My expectations were way too high.... The sink was filled with dishes and black water from at least 2 months. The whole place was extremely smelly and filthy. Dust and died flies everywhere, even in the fridge. Light switches with black fingers, light bulbs with fly stains, dead plants, rotten food in the fridge, sticky material on the couch etc. When my brother was sitting on the small bed to take off his shoes, it collapsed. Towels were farty and humid. We gave the owner enough time to tidy it up, in the morning and when we came back in the afternoon. But when we arrived at 22.30, nothing was cleared.....We ran away from the penthouse, but the owner, after we had a strong discussion, refuses to pay the money back we HAD TO PAY IN ADVANCE. Booking.com will offer their help. This place needs to be shut down and the City Council must act to revoke the  hotel permit!
