Whatever you do, don't rent a room from Rob Blackwell's 'The Mayrhofen Experience'. They don't take care of the house, blame you for it and then take your deposit. They say they're going to fix things when they first meet you but when you get in contact with them about things that aren't working they get angry. They don't have any communication with their tenants, they only want your money! I didn't even get a real contract from them and no reciept when I paid them over 700 euros in cash. They seem nice at the begining but they're the worst landlords ever! You can't trust them at all.

Great value, great location. This family-run chalet has everything you need for a wonderful ski vacation. Would thoroughly recommend staying here. Will return for sure.

The family which runs the chalet-hotel will go above and beyond for you. Very helpful with info on all the options in the area.

Wonderful experience

Just had sking holiday for a week at this catered chalet with 7 other friends, the people who own and run the property are the nicest family you can meet rob, laurian, and kids and very helpful for local knowledge . food was great plenty of it, I recommend this chalet its good value ,clean quiet at night a short walk in to town 6mins and 10 mins walk to main ski lift or the bus ,as the bus stop is 3 min walk ,plenty of bars and restaurant ,sking real good we will all be going back very soon, thank for you hospitality

ski trip

We have just returned from a week at the Haus Schmidhofer (23 Feb - 02 March 2013), the chalet was great, just a little bit away from the town, which is only 5 mins walk away and a couple of minutes walk to the ski bus which runs every 10 mins to the Penken and Ahorn Bahn.

The chalet was clean and the bedrooms spacious, there was 8 of us staying for the week and had use of the 2 bathrooms. 

Laurain and Rob were great hosts, they made us welcome from the time we arrived to the time we left.

The food was superb, there was plenty of choice for breakfast, toast, cereal, bacon, sausage,mushrooms, tomatoes and variations of eggs. The evening meals were plentiful and delicious, if there was anything you didn't like on the menu, Rob and Laurain would make something different to accommodate.

Nothing was too much trouble from the hosts and I would recommend this chalet to all.

Fab Ski holiday at Haus Schmidhofer

Great skiing and nightlife in Mayrhofen, and exactly what I want from skiing accommodation at Haus Schmidhofer. Recommended.
Although I was only travelling with  3 others, and the chalet was full to capacity with one other large group, Laurian made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived to lierally the minute we left. There was an unexpected 3 course meal waiting when we arrived at 7pm on Saturday. The food was good all week.
The location was fine for us - 15 min walk in ski boots to the penken lift or train station (20 mins to kaltenbach etc), or 5 min walk to the bus. 10 mins walk to bars and the only restaurant we ate properly at (on the hosts night off - decent Chinese). Staggering back after a few Jagerbombs in the superb Scotland Yard was joyous.
The only things holding back 5 stars were:
- lack of a curtain on skylight in the small twin room (other room was decent sized Austrian double with balcony)
- lack of cooked breakfast a couple of days - though we did stumble down just before 9.
Overall it is a great place to stay.
