We have just had a brilliant few days at Columbia Apartments in Rainbow Bay.
We had a group booking with three different Units and each one was wonderful. They were all looking out over the ocean.
The Units had everything you could imagine, they were incredibly clean and well appointed. It was perfect for the children with a heated pool, tennis court and the beach in front of our building. We parked our cars and walked everywhere which helped make our few days feel like a longer stay. The Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We will all be back again this time next year.

Feeling relaxed

Unit 6 was great with everything necessary provided (full kitchen and laundry) for a wonderful stay - sea view and comfortable bed. This unit is a two level townhouse on the ground floor with easy access to beach, pool and tennis court for us with children - even had tennis racquets in the cupboard.  Beautiful swimming and surfing beaches just across the road.  Friendly and helpful hosts.

Great location, great apartment in Rainbow Bay

Columbia Apartments have always been our favourite place to stay at Rainbow Bay. The views are spectacular and the position is fantastic.   Unfortunately this visit was so disappointing as the unit we stayed in (Unit 51) is in urgent need of a total demolish and upgrade. Everything in the unit is obviously the original from the carpet and curtains, dishwasher ( we had to re-wash the dishes) furniture and appliances. It smells old and musty. No air- con.  You would find better cutlery and crockery at St Vinnies - it is all mismatched and chipped. For the cost per night I would have expected something better than this.

The management were exceptionally friendly and most helpful  and the grounds and pool areas are well maintained and spotless. We have stayed in other apartments and were happy with them - do yourself a favour and don’t book this apartment. So disappointing for our mini holiday.

Disappointing

Great views of the beach and town, short walk from the main shops and to Twin Towns RSL.

Very friendly management who went above and beyond to accommodate and assist us during our stay.

Pre covid, this has been our holiday destination each year as we love the accommodation and location.  First lengthy trip post covid and look forward to our next trip staying at Columbia Apartments!

Room with a view

Fantastic, family friendly beautifully appointed 2 bed 2 bath apartment in the heart of rainbow bay. Relaxed. Gorgeous views. Quiet neighbourhood and friendly staff. Thanks to manager Brendan who looked after us during our stay. Highly recommend  this location and this apartment complex.

A slice of winter beach paradise

My family and I spent four days here in a beautiful apartment on the 12th floor, what an amazing view and across the road from the beach where we spent most of our time, one thing I love about the apartment is that there were so many windows that you could open for a fresh Breeze at least two in every room. Our kitchen was fully self-contained with every utensil possible. The elevators were surprisingly quick given how busy the place was. The managers were Great, hospitable and accommodating, not cranky like most apartment managers. We will definitely stay again thank you.

Incredible location

Rainbow Bay is such a beautiful place. Columbia Apartments is perfectly positioned opposite the beach. Matt, one of the managers, is a great guy, very helpful and courteous. Unfortunately that is where the good service ends. Michelle the other Manager is a super intense personality chasing guests through the building.

 On one occausion they had stuffed up the dates on the electronic keys and so when I arrived back at the apartment around midnight I could not get in. I rang the after hours and "emergency number" many times but no one answered it. I ended up having to literally sleep in the street - a first for me! 

Thank god there was no life threatening emergency as it was clear no one will would of received assistance. 

They refused to reimburse me for the night on the street even though they admitted it was their fault. 

Then the following week the same thing happened. So this time I knocked on the Managers door and Michelle came out in the rage with no pants on just a T-Shirt (quite a scene). It was quite confronting. She was so very upset for being woken up. I tried to explain that the electronic keys are not working and in fact Management told me to knock on the door if the situation (that occurred the week before) ever happened again. She was no at all concerned for my well being. Also again she never answered the so-called "Emergency Phone". The following morning she was back at it again calling me and demanding changes to the pricing of the accommodation which was already agreed and had been paying for a few weeks already. I have spent the good part of the last ten years in short term paid accommodation but I have never been through anything like this. I actually had to brief my company's lawyers to deal with them. 

Caveat emptor definitely applies on this one.

Faulty Towers by the Beach

What an amazing place Rainbow Bay is, and Columbia apartments are perfectly located. The beach is gorgeous, great little surf club across the road, parks and walks all at your doorstep. We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment, no 51. It was huge and very comfortable. Great couch and TV and outdoor settings and the beds were all really comfortable! The staff were so lovely - we were able to let our baby have a nap with a early check in and leave a bit later. 
The unit is older and hasn’t been renovated but it doesn’t detract from it being really comfortable. It is is dire need - of a really really good clean. Bedside tables and draws need to be wiped out, cupboards are filthy inside and the bedspreads and abundance of blankets that are available need a good wash. It might happen every few months but there was visible food on some of the bedspreads. The linen and towels were beautiful and fresh and clean though. The unit hadn’t been used in a while I’m guessing as I had to clean the bath out before I put the kids in and I also washed the nonslip mat that had black mould on it. It’s just little things like that that make you notice that it needs a good going over. The kitchen needs to be reappointed. It looks like over the years the pots and pans have been ruined and not replaced - there are so many lids but only one pot and one tatty frying pan. If we were there for longer I would done some cleaning and reorganising myself. 
A proper deep clean from the cleaner and a few bits and pieces from kmart would make this place 5 stars in my opinion and I certainly will be booking again to stay as all in all it was great and we enjoyed it so much.

Best Spot on the Gold Coast

Im lucky to be a Coolangatta local and when I want to wake up with beachfront views I book a few nights at Columbia Apartments. The location is ideal for surfing, walking and bike riding. Close to shops and restaurants but not too close to the noise of town.
Matt the manager is extremely helpful and obliging. Highly recommend.
