Thank you for such amazing service and refreshing smiles. The food was exquisite as always. The lake and woods are oh so relaxing.

Refreshing Food And Friendship

Great views and great food overlooking the Lake.  We have visited before and returned again due to good food, views and great staff.  We would highly recommend and we will definitely return, hopefully, again very soon.  Wine and beer very reasonably priced!  Great Brulee for dessert!

Another wonderful visit to a heavenly retreat that holds a special place in our hearts. We have stayed here numerous times, and always, it never ceases to amaze us. George and Aldy have created such a peaceful haven that is so unique and special that truly must be experienced at least once in a lifetime.

Thank you this time to Sarah for making our 33rd wedding anniversary extra special for us and truly unforgettable. Words cannot describe how special you made us feel. We actually had tears in our departure. Please do yourself a favour and stay at Secrets on the Lake at least once. So good for the heart and soul. 🥰💞

UTTER BLISS

My partner and I are seasoned travelers, having explored over 10 different countries and lodged in more than 50 diverse lodgings, ranging from 5-star hotels to hostels. We had been eager to experience a stay at Secrets for a while, having enjoyed several visits to their restaurant in the past. However, when it came to the actual accommodation, it fell short of our expectations, especially considering its billing as "luxury accommodation" and the corresponding rates. Below, I outline the pros and cons of our personal three-night stay in the Bower treehouse.

Positives:
1. The treehouse boasted a breathtaking view.
2. The food served was of excellent quality.
3. The overall cleanliness was commendable.
4. A complimentary breakfast was included.

Negatives:
1. We encountered cockroaches in the dishwasher.
2. There were issues with broken toilet seat hinges.
3. Some of the furniture and furnishings, such as rugs, bedspreads, and the couch, appeared outdated and would benefit from an upgrade.
4. The breakfast credit provided was insufficient to cover a simple drink with breakfast, necessitating extra charges for tea and coffee. (We suggest including breakfast beverages or offering breakfast with drinks included.)
5. Breakfast service did not commence until 8 am.

In summary, our stay was enjoyable, with the surrounding natural beauty providing a significant highlight. The overall service and accommodation were satisfactory. However, given the plethora of alternative lodgings in Montville and Maleny, along with our prior experiences in similar accommodations, there seems to be a sense of complacency and a lack of attention to necessary improvements and reviews.

Close but no cigar

Today our party of three enjoyed a lovely lunch at Secrets on the Lake. We experienced friendly, efficient service in picturesque surroundings. My fish of the day, crispy skinned barramundi with a noodle salad was delicious and I could highly recommended it.

Visited restaurant on site. Nothing short of fabulous. Good food   Had grazing platter , cheese platter and Devonshire tea. So good!!  service exceptional special mention to river who made our celebration extra special. Thank you.

We first saw Secrets on the Lake on a travel show and decided that we just had to stay here! Secrets is so unbelievably beautiful it takes your breath away!   We are frequent travellers and have travelled all over Australia and also the world and Secrets must be one of our favourite places that we have ever stayed in. From the moment we arrived, we were met with the warmest of greetings from the staff, which continued throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so friendly and so professional that you instantly felt relaxed! So we knew we were in for an amazing stay.
We stayed in the Dragonfly Luxury Penthouse and it was absolutely stunning! When we opened the door the view took our breath away! We were greeted with panoramic views over Lake Baroon and I don't think I have ever taken so many photos, The sunsets were mesmerising. We were shown around our treehouse which contained everything you could possibly think of, nothing has been overlooked.  Our treehouse had a sunken spa with views over the lake, and even chocolates were left next to the spa! There is an abundance of beautiful soft towels and the bed and pillows are so comfortable and soft I cannot even remember going to sleep! The toiletries are beautiful and I bought some to take home so I could continue using the beautiful products at home.

  We had pre-ordered a cheese platter and spent the afternoon on the deck enjoying a sensational cheese platter with cheese from Maleny Cheeses ( which was delicious)! and enjoyed a bottle of wine while soaking in the stunning view! It really doesn't get any better than this! The treehouses are so private and so quiet it felt like we were the only ones there which we just loved. We parked the car in the car park and we were shown to our treehouse via the elevated walkways which were so unique. As you walk along the walkway you are greeted by these amazing carvings in the railings of animals and reptiles and there are little secret statues all through the property. The walkways are very easy to walk on and very manageable. The staff take your bags so you don't even have to think about that either! On the deck there is a beautiful wooden swinging chair, this is where I spent most of my time, gently swinging in the warm sunshine and balmy breeze reading my book, this was such a highlight of our stay!
We had planned to go to some of the local restaurants for dinner but we loved our treehouse so much that we decided to eat in because we didn't want to leave!  The restaurant onsite is open for breakfast, lunch, coffee cake and high teas. You can order your dinner and this is delivered to your room with reheating instructions, our meals were divine! Breakfast is served in the restaurant and is included in your room rate and each morning a bag of fresh croissants is delivered to your room and left discreetly on the shelf near the front door.  These are made fresh by the chef and they are so delicious. The gardens are spectacular, they are so pretty and so well maintained, they are absolutely stunning!! We didn't want to leave Secrets and if we could have stayed longer we would have! We will most definitely be back again and again!! It really is a magical place! Thank you so much for making our stay so fantastic and so memorable!!

Absolutely Magical! 

We stayed in one of the luxury apartments at the beginning of January,  We had initially booked a 3 day break in a nearby property however on arrival we encountered a number of issues and decided to leave after one night.  We had stayed at Secrets before and enquired from Sarah if they had any availability.  I have to say Sarah and her staff were absolutely AMAZING, they went above and beyond to accomodate  us and make the remainder of our break away special. Customer Service was exceptional.  The apartments are absolutely beautiful and we would have no hesitation in recommending them.  We can't wait to come back - thank you Sarah and team.

Amazing!

We booked Secrets 6 months going for a lovely quiet weekend for my 60th. Birthday. Upon booking we told the staff about the special birthday. No one told us there were no guests allowed  but they were quick to take our money which was nearly $3000.00!!!! 

When we arrived we told Sarah we had a small group coming up to celebrate. I had my adult children meet us at Edges Restaurant for lunch. They came back to the cottage to cut my cake then went off into the grounds to explore. They were accosted walking in the grounds and interrogated as to why they were there. 3 friends arrived at 2.30 pm.  We shared champagne and cake on the deck. Apparently both of our neighbours complained about the noise. George the owner completely destroyed my special day by evicting my guests at 5.15 pm. He appeared at the door telling my friends to leave, embarrassing us, the paying guests, with no care whatsoever that it was a special occasion. He completely destroyed a lovely day that I can’t get back. 

My children left early because they felt so uncomfortable with the staff. George gave both our neighbours another FREE night for their inconvenience. We were punished like naughty schoolies who had brought in friends illegally.  I was humiliated by his arrogant response. My friends in turn will tell their friends etc; to NEVER stay at Secrets. I called to complain. Sarah the daughter in-law of George couldn’t have cared less that my 60th. was ruined. NOWHERE on the website says No Guests. Sarah told me it was written (obviously) in very fine print no guests were allowed when  you sign in upon arrival. Why didn’t they tell us this before they took our money??????? Beautiful surroundings and dwellings but George the owner needs to sell up as he has become jaded, arrogant and uncaring.

Never Going Back

We stayed in Secrets, which is a beautiful treehouse.  The view and overall atmosphere is 5 star.  Restaurant staff were amazing, and did not charge for a main I forgot to order as gluten free and could not eat.  However, we paid for the Christmas package and whilst there was ample food, much could not be eaten due to dietary requirements which I had advised twice, prior to arrival. There was no effort to indicate what food was gluten free on the  Christmas platter, and we had to clarify on delivery.  Nectarines were large but not ripe and all fruit was served next to prawns leaving them smelling and tasting of seafood.  Garden salad was small and dressing was less than a teaspoon.  The turkey was stuffed with gluten causing cross contamination on platter.  Simple attention to request for gluten free, and understanding of cross contamination would have meant food was edible instead of needing to be binned to avoid health consequences. Breakfast was meant to be included and as the restaurant was closed for two days of our stay provisions were to be delivered, these only arrived for one day.  My husband and I are still trying to work out how 1 tablespoon of butter for two people is generous.  Breakfast at the restaurant whilst lovely on the day we had it was meant to be to $20 value each, we ordered $38   of meals, and were then charged nearly $14 for two coffees. Overall, very disappointing, which is a shame as there was so much potential for better when paying close to $2, 700 for a 3 night stay including the Christmas package.
