Empire tasting trail platter for two! 
Amazing platter, full of flavour and variety. Everything was absolutely delicious. Staff took care for coeliac needs. I felt very safe eating here, trying new things and thoroughly enjoying every bite.  Highly recommended.

Delicious and coeliac friendly

Stayed overnight at the Empire Hotel. Room was clean, comfortable bed, traffic noise which reduces at night but not an issue. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Opportunity to see a platypus in the river across the road if you're lucky! Meals are delicious and the menu is great. Communal breakfast room is a nice touch and well stocked.
Very reasonable price for a lovely stay in a charming town. Highly recommended. 

Charm and history abound!

Loved this hotel. Beautiful quaint hotel full of character, well presented rooms, parking at rear. Lovely town quiet with lovely walks along the river. Staff very friendly help yourselves breakfast on first-floor

Great hotel

We stayed a night after spending the day at Cradle Mountain. The room was perfect with newish looking private bathroom and double bed. It was clean and had everything we needed. We ate dinner (steak cooked exceptionally well) downstairs and enjoyed sitting outside with a wine and beer. Continental Breakfast is included in the room rate. Really personable team (mainly family) but felt good being welcomed into a friendly venue.

Great mid-range pub style accom

Our hosts Amanda and Mark were most hospitable and clearly love their jobs.
The accommodation was beautifully appointed with a nice firm queen sized bed which included a great Continental breakfast.
Quality of the meals in the pub downstairs were a pleasant surprise.
Bonus was the complimentary ‘platypus spotting tour’.

An enjoyable stay with character

I was staying overnight in Deloraine to catch up with friends from interstate. The Empire hotel is very central so that appealed, as did the historical nature of the location. 

This is a lovely, heritage listed hotel. The rooms have been upgraded so that you have your own bathroom and it is scrupulously clean and comfortable. 

I had the privilege of Tristan giving me the introduction to the site, facilities and parking etc. all my questions were answered.  We ate had dinner in the hotel which was fantastic. Great choices and good prices. 

Normally I just rate the location but I must do a shout out to Tristan who is an incredible young man who truly made my stay memorable with his impeccable customer service skills.   A lovely and comfortable stay.

Heritage in the heart of  Deloraine

A big thankyou to Mark from the Empire Hotel for taking us on a free platypus tour on his day off. We saw several platypus up close as we walked along the river, an experience I’ll never forget. 

We followed the hour long tour with an excellent dinner at the beautifully refurbished Empire Hotel. 

I highly recommend putting a visit to Deloraine and the Empire Hotel on your agenda when visiting Tasmania.

The location was outstanding. My partner and I love old pubs and we found this place absolutely amazing! 
The room was great, everything was perfectly clean and tidied up. We had dinner at the pub, the food was great and the staff was very friendly and kind.

Great spot to stay!

Mark the publican is the Platypus King. Best place in Tassie for a drink and FREE platypus tour. 

Mark is passionate about breaking the myth that platypus are impossible to find in the wild.

Within minutes you will be clicking away. 

Sadly we could not stay for dinner but thanks to Mark and Empire hotel, we left with great memories. Thank you Mark! 

Empire of the Platypus

My partner and I stayed at the Empire Hotel in Deloraine for two nights in January 2022.  We have eaten at this pub on a previous trip and decided to stay here....we love staying in old pubs.  
Deloraine itself is a lovely town and in the Meander Valley and gateway to the Western Tiers.  
The Empire Hotel is a beautiful old pub that also has a coffee shop attached to the side (the pub access was through this shop - Covid related restricted access, I believe).
The rooms are all up on the first and second floor, accessed by an internal staircase, and can also be accessed via the rear door (keyed entry) with a staircase up to the 2nd floor (where we were staying).
Our room (QS ensuite room), had its own private sitting area with TV and with views over the mountains, and a door to a shared kitchenette / sitting area with bar fridge which was shared  with a couple of other rooms on the same floor, although we only encountered one other person during our (mid-week stay).
There is also access to a common kitchen (located on the first floor), that was very well stocked with breakfast provisions (included in the cost at the time we stayed), of several types of bread for toast, fresh fruit, and a variety of cereals and even little tubs of yoghurt.

Amanda was very friendly and showed us upstairs to our room and gave a quick tour of the amenities.  She was even kind enough to allow my partner and I to park our two motorbikes on the concrete undercover pad outside the back door, which we appreciated.
The bedroom had a QS bed and small wardrobe, but was spacious enough, and an ensuite bathroom attached that was quite generous in size, and had recently been renovated.  Great shower space - no screen (=no cleaning).  And excellent non-slip tiles on the floor.
We ate at the pub (outside) on one of the nights....reasonably priced food and a nice Pinot Noir from Tin Pot Bay.
No complaints at all.  We'll be back.
