A quieter area of Yorkeys Knob, opposite the golf course and within  15 min walk of the beach. Other than a pool to sit by, time can be spent visiting Cairns and its hinterland. Shops are around the corner, and there is a nice restaurant down by the beach.

Quiet stay at Yorkey's Knob

We enjoyed our 2 week stay in July 2019. It is right across the road from a fabulous golf course and close to Yorkeys Knob Boat Club, close to beach and local shops. Probably a great idea to hire a car as a major shopping centre is about 5-10 min drive. Yorkeys Knob is close to Cairns, approx 15 minute drive. It is situated on the Northern Beaches not far from Palm Cove.  The Resort is very clean with a fabulous balcony and a pool which has sun on it up until about 3.30 to 4pm in the afternoon. The gardens are beautiful with many palm trees and beautiful birds chirping. The resort is in a flight path, but seriously didn’t bother us. Managers were friendly and very helpful, nothing was any trouble to them. Ellen was just lovely.. We would definitely return.

Half Moon Bay Resort Yorkeys Knob

The “Resort” should not be classified as a resort.  It has a smaller pool than our suburban block and that was the only facility we had.  The pool did not even have much room around it for relaxation.  The building and furnishings were very 80’s and needed updating.  Our room did not even have a screen door on the balcony entrance so we could not the door for air flow without being plagued by insects.
We had issues from the noise of the planes taking off and landing nearby and the fact that they were flying overhead at a low altitude.  If that wasn’t enough the hotel tariff must have been in the budget range by the number of trades people staying.  This led to very big and noisy vehicles leaving early in the morning just outside our bathroom window.  (No glass, just screen).  With the planes still flying after 1.00am it wasn’t conducive to a good night’s sleep.
The kitchen was just adequate but could have had some more cutlery as four spoons, knives and forks  such as salad servers, serving spoons but we got by.  The internet was another issue as even though we were the closest unit to the reception we had a very patchy internet at the best of times. 


Noisy Aeroplanes

Whilst the staff are great and location good the unit needed updating. Sofa bed was unusable as bed. Mother nad daughter had to share the master bed as sofa unusable. Would note rate this in the usual RCI standard. Would try to avoid staying here unless rooms/furniture updated

Needs updaying

My boyfriend and I stayed here for about a week. The apartments are very nice with kitchens and a separate living room and patio area. It's a quiet location less than a mile from a gorgeous beach. Take out Chinese and pizza are around the corner. No complaints except that when you take a shower it tends to get water all over the floor. Also it would've been nice to have the TV visible from the bed. I would recommend this place for anyone looking to get out of the city and hit the beach!

Nice quiet apartment style hotel

The room is fully equiped with kitchen and laundry facilities in each room and is clean and tidy. The managers are very helpful and welcoming. They had a shared Christmas lunch with the residents and also invited resort guests making it feel very homely. Resort is very central to major attractions.
