The location of the lodge is awesome!!! Away from the hustle of the densely populated and amazing town. The services are acceptable and staff are quiet friendly. it is a distance from town but ok for you to catch your flight in good time.

Nicely Located Place

We stayed in this lodge prior to our flight to Eastern Zambia the next morning, upon recommendation by our accomodation in Livingstone. It is a basic but good lodge, with friendly staff, clean rooms with TV and tea-making facilities/minibar and is very good value for money (not easy to find in Southern Africa!). Its major advantage is that it is located outside town only a few kilometres from Kenneth Kaunda airport - good if you have a flight at odd hours, considering the horrendous traffic in the center of Lusaka. We did not try the restaurant or breakfast, so cannot comment on that.

Good if proximity to airport is needed

There are two Kakwele Lodges. The one we stayed at was further from the airport in a back street of Lusaka, about a 20 minute drive. We were charged $15 for each of the 4 journeys to and from the airport, which I considered to be excessive.The room at the lodge was adequate, but a little cramped (especially the shower). Lighting was dim with no bedside or desk light. There were broken loose tiles around the small pool.Service was friendly but less than prompt.Although we had only one of the four included breakfasts the waitress tried to charge me for my full english on the grounds that only continental was free. This was resolved quickly when I complained to the manager and showed her your paperwork.

Stopover in Lusaka

Kakwele Lodge is conveniently located near the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport as well as the WaterFalls shopping Mall. This makes it easier for one to to do the shopping as well as catch that early morning flight without having to struggle with the morning traffic congestion of Lusaka city. Unfortunately, Kawele Lodge has a Restaurant that closes too early and hence makes it difficult for one to have that late night meal.

MY STAY AT KAKWELE LODGE

The lodge is very nice and kept clean overall. 
My only issue is with customer service. If you don’t say hello nobody greats you, the waiters just drop the plates of food on your table without saying a word and they pick them up the same way like you are invisible. I’ll give the place a two thumbs up for location and appearance but the customer service made me feel so unwelcome. 
I’ve to think twice before booking there again. 

Great location 

My ideal location for the business I had in Lusaka was the city centre. However almost all hotels were full and this was recommended. I can say I was worried about how it was going to turn out to be but was pleasantly surprised upon arrival. It is very quiet, staff are friendly and although it needs some improvements here and there, it is just fine for a short stay. Can definitely go back there.

The meals however are very limited and being away from the city centre, you have to plan well for other needs as there are no shops around
