Dai Lanh Beach Hotel

I stayed at Dai Lanh Beach Resort in January of 2020, and loved it! The only issue I had was the lack of transportation to and from the resort, but if you know this in advance you can prepare by renting a motorbike or budgeting for a taxi. I took a bus from Nha Trang to Van Gia Khanh Hoa, then a local taxi bus gave me a ride for VD150000, not bad. There are not many tourists in this rural area, and very few people speak English. Staff at the resort knew enough English for check in and ordering food, the menus are available in English. But even communicating with locals in the village is possible if you bother to learn just a few phrases in Vietnamese. I walked into the village and had an amazing cheap lunch on the main street near the mountains. The beach near the resort is secluded and clean, the water is usually calm, but can get a bit rough. Which is fine if you aren't ignorant about how to swim safely in the ocean. Yes, as other commenters have mentioned, there is a lot of trash on the beach away from the resort. There are also noxious trash fires in the evening, but this is not unusual for the area (and the smoke doesn't reach the resort area). Coming to Dai Lanh with Western expectations is a mistake. Enjoy it for what it is: a beautiful local rural area in Viet Nam. Pick up the trash yourself if it bothers you so much. The food at the resort was cheap and delicious, and there is a small outdoor market, restaurants, and convenience stores in the village. Alcohol is costly at the resort, but a nice splurge if you must. In the village beer is cheap. The room I stayed in was a bungalow with a single bed, a hot water kettle, a comfy bed, AC, good internet, and mosquito net. The bathrooms and showers were clean with plenty of hot water. The best part of staying here was the proximity to the ocean and mountains. The views and distance from metropolitan areas are worth visiting for alone.
