We booked a 2 night stay at one of the chalets with our 2 young children. At £314 for 2 nights and the pictures on Hoseasons, we were looking forward to this 'break'. 

When we arrived, we were quickly given our keys to our chalet. Upon arrival to the chalet, I physically gagged with the smell. It stank of wet dog and urine. Under no circumstances was this chalet suitable for ANYONE to stay in, let alone 2 young children who complained about the smell as soon as we walked in. 

My husband contacted the reception immediately and they quickly gave us a key to another chalet. By no means, was the smell as pungent, however there was most certainly still a 'scent'. The chalet was dated and incredibly basic, (pictures attached) and not what we had seen advertised. By this time, reception was closed so we had no choice but to stay the evening. 

We left at 9am the next morning after sleeping in our daytime clothes. The chalet is NOT worth £314 for 2 nights. It's not even worth £20 a night. 

It was so bad and we were terribly disappointed after travelling 3 hours to get there. Never again. Needs knocked down and a Tesco built.

One star for the refund.

We have recently return from the October half term holiday week with 2 young children. We booked a chalet with hot tub and honestly I was dreading it after reading these reviews.

However it was a fantastic week! The chalet itself was clean, large and basic but it's a bed to sleep in. There was a slight smell of dog but we spoke with reception who got cleaners straight out to clean carpet and put in a humidifier. After that absolutely no issues at all with the chalet and reception staff went above and beyond.

The pool is great for kids. Was busy most days and it gets tested by the same lad who tests all the hot tubs. I never once seen it dirty and we went at different times.

Kids entertainment absolutely fantastic. Our little boy loved it. All free aswell and he absolutely loved the disco. 
Drinks are reasonably priced aswell.

We had food at the cafe which was great and service great. Nags head the chef forgot bits twice to meal but in fairness to the staff they were quick on it.

Hats off to the young staff there absolutely working their backsides off!!!

We will definitely be back next year!!

Great week away

I was dredding coming after booking them reading reviews !! But was pleasantly suprised lodge is clean enough .. plenty to do for kids aged 6-12 .. swimming pool warm don’t have to book anymore .. entertainment good some activities through the day too .. restaurant mainly pub food but a nice get away for family and not too rammed .. site could do with a update and believe there working on it .. will definitely return 

Take reviews with a pinch of salt it’s not the ritz it’s a caravan park and not a bad one

Just back from a week's holiday to Solway Holiday Village, we all had a fab time.

I was dreading going here after reading all the negative reviews.  We stayed in a Carlise Gold Lodge with hot tub, it was clean and we were very happy with it, i was going to attach a video but trip advisor only allowing photos.  The lodge was pretty much the same as the photos on the website.

All staff were helpful in the shop, reception, bar area.  We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on that.  To be honest it isnt any worse that any other holiday parks we have stayed at so  we would go back again if there were any deals available.

Pool is small but the kids enjoyed it.  And they enjoyed playing football in the astro park.

Emily on the bar was excellent made me feel so welcome. JEZ in reception could not do enough to help and assist. JAMIE entertainment manager took me and some other guests Archery so helpful and madebus all feel welcome.JUSTINE removed broken glass within minutes of my reporting it. The whole experience of our stay was excellent, the camp is being upgraded & I can't wait to return next year. Thank you all.

We were welcomed on arrival by a cheerful lady at the reception desk.
She advised us of the location of the caravan and drew the exact location on a map. 
We purchased a few necessities from the well stocked shop, which was very reasonably priced, and went and parked on our caravans driveway. 
The caravan itself was immaculately clean. 
Everything worked as it should, hot water, shower, TV, and even WiFi connection in the caravan. 
Beds were made up for the size of our party.  
On site facilities were brilliant.
We used the kids entertainment venue on all 3 of our nights, as we were on a family holiday. 
My 2 children felt comfortable straight away with the friendly staff, who were very engaging, and involved everyone in the entertainment. 
Princes are about average for what I would expect to pay in a bar on a holiday park. 
We used the arcade which the kids loved, and was bigger than on other holiday parks we have stayed on.
We didn't use the food facilities so we can't comment on those. 
We also used the pool on 2 occasions, kids had a great time. 
My partner did comment on the cleanliness in the lady's changing room, but I would imagine this could have been due to the weather and people's shoes, and the gents were absolutely fine. 
The surrounding area is beautiful. 
I would recommend the amusements on the seafront and the cafe is very good.
Carlisle has many attractions and is about 40 mins away, if the weather isn't great. 
I would recommend this holiday park to families with children. 
It really is ideal.

Great weekend away

Stayed here for 3 nights with our 3 young grandchildren. We stayed in a three bedroom lodge which was spacious, well equipped and very clean with good safe outside area for the children to play . Staff very friendly and accommodating, very family friendly feel about the whole park, we look forward to returning, Thankyou

Lovely weekend

We have been coming here for a couple of years with no issues at all and absolutely love the place! 
We’ve just been for a week and the state of the swimming pool is appalling. We reported glass in the baby pool which is shocking when you are in with a baby and the amount of hair in the pool is disgusting. Please can the new owners revamp the pool and the changing rooms to the modern date instead of being in a dirty time warp.

We travelled up to Silloth a bit apprehensive due to the reviews this place had - but we were pleasantly surprised. 

Accommodation - clean, but basic. Could’ve done with a hoover and airer to use. Bathroom did need an upgrade. 

Pool - perfect for my children. Started the day clean but by the end of the day was very dirty. 

Entertainment and staff - great. Definitely make the difference. Colour festival was brilliant. 

The local area was fab, Silloth Green, local beaches and walks very enjoyable, 

Had a great week.

You get what you pay for

I never ever review places and am by far snobbish but We’ve just returned from what was by far the worst holiday park we’ve ever visited! We stayed in a chalet which can only be described as dated and disgusting!  Run down doesn’t begin to describe the place. Rather than write war and peace here’s a list…

Rude staff on arrival.
Only one bed with sheets on, on arrival and threw a bag of sheets at me when I asked if someone could make them up! 
Chalet stunk of foist and urine.
The main bed mattress was in desperate need of replacement.
Couldn’t put our clothes in the wardrobe or draws due to the damp smell. 
Toilet seat practically hanging off and the shower was freezing. (The bathroom looked like something from the 70’s).
Bar is understaffed and half the menu is unavailable. 
Soft play was closed during our entire stay due to an incident-they wouldn’t elaborate! 
Playground dated and  overrun with weeds.
Music blasting until 4am.

Overall the best thing about the place is the road out of there.
