Lovely comfortable bed clean towels coffee and tea in room small fridge in room also hairdryer, veiw not good but wasn't staying in the room much,after a long journey to get there it was nice to have a hot drink

Clean room

Having booked the Wenlock House hotel online, just a few weeks ago, we arrived to find it is no longer operating under this name, but is now the Weymouth Bay Hotel. Gone is the AA four star plaque which was displayed by the entrance.
We were greeted by the owner/manager who seemed friendly enough. He showed us the grubby looking dining area where we would be served a pre-ordered breakfast between 08:30 - 09:30 (too early for us). We were then taken to our room, 13, on the third floor. This was supposedly a newly refurbished room, which looked reasonably clean, but was very small and basic. The en-suite was tiny, with a sloping roof which invited a headache every time I got up off the toilet. The shower tray was very grubby and badly fitted, and much of the floor had very little grout between the tiles.
The room was very hot and stuffy, unfortunately if we opened the window, we couldn't sleep for the noise of the seagulls, which went on all night.
 We went down for breakfast on the first morning. Unfortunately not all the displayed items were available so my wife was unable to have yoghurt. She settled for poached eggs on toast, which was fine, while I opted for full English. The quality was poor, particularly the sausage, which I suspect had very little meat content. We decided to skip breakfast for the remaining three days of our break.
After a nice day out, we returned to find our room had not been serviced. I spoke to the manager, who apologised and said he would speak to the cleaner next day, but there was no offer to do anything that evening.
The next day our room was serviced, but the towels weren't changed. We used the dirty towels and next day I left them in the bottom of the shower to indicate we wanted them changing. We went out for the day and on our return found the damp, dirty towels had been folded and put back on the towel rail.
I went to speak to the manger, explaining the towels were damp and dirty. He apologised and took me to the linen cupboard and gave me clean towels, which I must say were very threadbare. 
On the last day, when we checked out, the manager asked if we'd enjoyed our stay, and was very taken aback when we said no. He felt there was nothing he could do if his staff let him down, and it was not his fault that our room was not serviced to our satisfaction. We definitely will not be returning.

Good location, hotel not so good

The hotel claims to have parking but in reality it is in a dirty and non secure "lock up" two streets back. Barely space for four cars and guests are left to their own devices to organise logistics so, for example, on the first morning I had fellow guests knock on my door at 8 asking me to move as they needed to go out. I then had to ensure my car was in a position that could not be blocked as I needed to drive with diving equipment to the old harbour later on. 

The one member of staff was embarrassed by the parking situation and as helpful as she could be, but seems to have been left to her own devices by the manager.

The room itself was lovely and great location, but the parking situation was just ludicrous.

Shambolic Parking

This hotel as two names me and my partner stayed for three nights and was cock up from day one trip asheard on the stairs let dowm with breakfast on to days and manager could help us only to give us twenty pounds back for breakfast wifi wouldn't work room had Netflixs that didn't work so weekend was crap what a let down it was???????

Mini break

The Wenlock is now called Weymouth Bay. We arrived Saturday 26th August to be told our booking had not been put in the diary. So my wife showed the idiot of a owner/manager all the email correspondence. We booked this in April 2017. We drive a 100 miles with our grandson who was so looking forward to a weekend at the beach. But sadly we couldn't find anywhere else to stay it was bank holiday. There was no apology, all the idiot of an owner wanted to do was blame a member of staff for not adding the booking to the diary. So we spent the day in the beach then drive 100 miles home again. Buy reading some if the reviews may e it was a blessing.
