Beautiful clean hotel best spoons we have stayed in, staff pleasant and helpful 
Room spotless and very comfortable everything you want at a good price, close to all amenities beautiful shops and  eateries, will definitely visit again.

Brilliant pub 

First off, get the elephant in the room out of the way, it’s a Wetherspoons so don’t expect high class cuisine.  It was expensive at £90 for a double without breakfast but we chose it for location (almost next door to the wedding venue we were attending) so just bit the bullet.

Superb, friendly staff made us feel very welcome. 

Nice, spotlessly clean, comfy room with decent facilities and beds that were soooooooo comfy.  

Heating was pants though but I stay in dozens of hotels every year and in my experience, heating/air con is always poor no matter how much you pay.  

Breakfast on both days was very tasty but food was never hot; even at ‘spoons prices, this isn’t a good thing especially when you order Eggs Benedict - cold poached eggs in Hollandaise sauce …… hmm.  Also, “sorry but the toaster is broken” isn’t good enough, a company the size of JD Wetherspoons should be able to resolve this almost instantly.

So no toast on Saturday and sort of warm muffins on Sunday. 

By no means a disastrous stay and I’d definitely return but JD Wetherspoons need to acknowledge that this isn’t an inner city dosshole but a nice town which deserves better.  



Expensive bed, rubbish breakfast

This has to be one of the nicest weatherspoons we've been in, clean and tidy, the staff were relaxed and friendly and the breakfast was beautifully cooked and HOT ( something a lot of spoons seem unable to manage) will definitely recommend and will certainly be popping back in for a bite to eat.
Well done to the staff of  The Queens Head you made our visit enjoyable and memorable 👍

VERY IMPRESSED 

The hotel was clean and the room (205) was spacious. The lady we met checking us in was very friendly. However, I didn’t get a wink of sleep as the bed was so hard and uncomfortable. As soon as I sat on it, I knew it was going to be a terrible night. As soon as I got home, absolutely exhausted, I went to bed. I wish hotels would stop buying cheap nasty beds and realise that people pay good money to stay at their establishments. It’s horrible to be uncomfortable and achy the next day. We won’t be back.

Uncomfortable bed, wouldn’t recommend

We always love visiting this hotel and we feel its one of the best wetherspoons pubs we have visited the staff are all lovely, are only gripe was we had room 107 we went up in lift but we went around circles trying to find the room we feel there needs to be a bit more signage to direct you to the room,
We look forward to visiting again in the future

Clean and comfortable stay

We came to Tavistock to visit my sister. We chose the most reasonable place to stay which was this delightful Wetherspoon’s pub. Not having been to a Wetherspoons before we did not know what to expect.  However, we were most pleasantly surprised as our room was bright, spacious and spotlessly clean.   I am sure that the presence of such competition will encourage other overpriced places in that area to ‘up their game’.   For example, The Cornish Arms over the road was charging well over twice the Wetherspoon’s price for its most basic bottle of wine. We will certainly visit any Wetherspoons pub/hotel again.

Delightful stay!

Came here with friends on Wednesday 1/2/23 table 65, 7pm, really slow bar service about 25-30 minutes to get a drink. We all decided to eat regrettably… chicken burger was not hot or properly cooked all the way through was very gelatinous and cold about half way! (I stopped eating) About ten minutes later hideous stomach cramps and later that evening feeling Sick and had a fever…was ok by morning luckily 

Please get your staff to probe food properly. 

Told member of staff who was clearing table who went back to the manager who the whole room could hear swearing about it no doubt calling me every name under the sun…I’m assuming he was also told not to finish clearing out table as he never returned.

Food poisoning

I've stayed here many times due to working in the area and will always go back. In fact I'll be there again next week. Always checked in quickly, usually by Gemma (or is it Jemma?) and I never need to tell her my name but there's a very good reason for that and no, it's not sordid. Always comfortable and good sized rooms. I usually request a certain room as I consider it to be the best one but I'm not telling you which one it is in case you book it before me :)
The beer selection is always good and the best I've seen in a 'spoons. South Hams brewery Sherman is amazing and at just £1.79 a pint after using a 50p CAMRA voucher it's amazing value for a 6.4% ale. It's not always on as the beers change but when it is on I don't need to look at the other beers to make a decision.

Good rooms and friendly staff

Stayed here for the 4th time. The service at check in was very good and as always no real issues with the room. Bed very comfortable and shower is superb. When we entered the room it smelt a bit musty and this was due to some mould on the wall. This is an old building and expected. We opened the window and the smell was gone very quickly. There was no one on reception when we left so unable to advise them about the mould but have messaged them. This in no way made a negative impact on our stay.

Great for an overnight

Cannot fault this place on anything, from the minute you arrive the staff are amazing until the time you leave. Im a spoons nut and the management and team at this one are far the best ive come across whilst travelling through the UK.....  Its a great place with sectioned rooms and areas that fit your mood, we stayed overnight and the room was brilliant, reasonably priced and reall comfortable.
We will make this a regular visit for sure, dont delay just book it, thankyou to Jo and Trevor the managers there, you really have a great venue.
