A small converted inn , turned into a restaurant with rooms. The Gurkha is a Nepalise run establishment set in an area of beautiful countryside and would make a great base for exploring the area. The rooms are smallish with en suite shower etc. The staff were friendly, polite and efficient. They also provided a complimentary continental breakfast on our stay. The restaurant is busy and serves a lovely selection of Nepalise and other Eastern style dishes. The food was excellent and presented very well. The service was very good too. I recommend the lamb it was succulent and so very tasty. There is a car park and outdoor seating. It is child friendly . Family run.Pre booking is recommended as the place does get very busy.

A pleasant overnight stopover 

Cosy rooms that were spotlessly clean. Great food on site and warm welcoming staff. Great accommodation for anyone walking in the Black Mountains. Within walking distance of Talgarth and all the village has to offer.

Will be going back!

Our first visit to Gurkha Inn and won't be our last. Great menu with plenty of choice for starters and mains.  Some unusual curries and everything we ordered was delicious. All tastes catered for. Recommend a real gem. 

Worth a visit 

Our stay was a real joy, it started with the friendly email responses to my queries after I had booked our stay. We were given a warm welcome and someone helped me carry my bag up the stairs ( I have a disability). The room was clean & cosy, plenty of tea & coffee supplied plus fast WiFi and the bed was comfortable.

We ate in the restaurant on both nights of our stay & really enjoyed both meals, the added bonus was the complimentary continental style breakfast. I hope we can visit again

Exactly what we needed!

We were extremely disappointed with the New Gurkha Inn. It was extremely unclean and we could not wait to leave! Our bedroom was small, there were numerous dirty marks throughout the room including old chewing gum stuck to the bedside table right next to my pillow and stains on the walls/doors. There was still a note from a previous guest in the bedside drawer which had obviously not been cleaned since at least the previous guest. The bathroom had multiple hairs in the shower, damp stains over the walls, and tissue paper was stuck inside holes on the floor. The shower pressure was so bad it was difficult to shower, and the plug was blocked meaning that the water would not drain properly and we had to wait over an hour for my partner to be able to take a shower. You could also hear other guest's conversations clearly from both the hallway and the bedroom. Perhaps worst of all was that the bathroom was home to silverfish! Due to the reasons stated I felt very uncomfortable at the property and could not sleep. I cannot comment on their breakfast as we chose not to eat here and wanted to leave as soon as possible, there was no one on the desk so we had to knock on the kitchen door for over ten minutes before someone came out to take our key. It was overall an awful experience and easily the worst place I have stayed!

We could not wait to leave!

This is a clean and convenient place to stay near the beautiful Brecon Beacons.  The competitive price also includes a continental breakfast.  The host  was attentive at all times. and we would definitely  use again.

Warm welcome

We had a lovely overnight stay at the New Gurkha Inn. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. We booked two rooms, one en-suite and one with the bathroom just along the landing. We had trouble getting an ambient temperature in the en-suite shower but the other shower was decent. We dined in the restaurant and had Mayalu, lamb sizzler, Gurkha curry (medium and extra hot) which everyone enjoyed. The continental breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice - various breads for toast, loads of spreads, yoghurts, boiled eggs, ham & cheese, fruit, croissants, cereals, coffee, tea and fruit juices. We recommend staying here and we will return if visiting the Breacons.

A lovely overnight stay. Great value for money.

wE ALWAYS WANTED TO TRY THE FOOD EATEN BY THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE ON THE ROOF OF THE WORLD.  We were surprised and delighted at the range of delicious flavours.  The whole experience of dining in this unique yet homely restaurant was a pleasure we will treasure - and hope to return one day.

Really impressed with the New Gurkha Inn. 

We were unable to get to the inn on the day we booked to stay due to storm Eunice. 
We were so grateful that the management agreed to change the booking date as they were under no obligation to do so we as we had booked through a third party.

The welcome we received was friendly and charming.  We had room 2, which was a good size with a large shower room.  Tea and coffee was provided .
Everything was beautifully clean.

The meal in the restaurant continued our positive experience. The food was excellent, plentiful and delicious and presented well. 
The young man who waited on us during  dinner provided a very efficient yet discrete service and nothing was too much trouble.

The continental breakfast was plentiful and varied - a 'do it yourself' sort of affair, although staff were on hand if needed. The staff were again very friendly and willing to stop and chat.

We would certainly stay again, and would recommend it to others.
