Have had a couple of take-aways during the 2020 pandemic - including a Sunday roast. Both EXCELLENT - lovely food and beautifully cooked. Hope things soon get back to normal because places like this deserve to succeed! TY.

TAKE-AWAY MEALS DURING CORBYN-19

Stayed here for 2 days. The owner was very accommodating and friendly. The room I had was big enough with an ensuite. outside wasn't noicy at all. The breakfast was also nice. I have no complaints and I would stay here again.

A very good bed and breakfast

Visited for a family birthday meal.  Meal was gorgeous and staff were fantastic.  Was a return visit as we also spent New Year’s Eve here where we had a brilliant night.  Would definitely recommend visiting this pub.

Family birthday

While not the 'poshest' pub we've stayed in, The Good Intent was just brilliant.   The staff went out of their way to make us welcome - they even dog-sat our chocolate lab while we went to a wedding - and the atmosphere was home from home.   The open-mic evening included some really good local musicians and the breakfasts were excellent.   We'll definitely stay there again when next in Petersfield.

The best of a traditional pub, couldn't have been more helpful, excellent beer, and super dog friendly!

I live so near the restaurant that I would not have occasion to stay overnight. Relatives were coming to see us for the day, just before Christmas. One member of the party needed gluten-free food and when my husband telephoned to book he was assured that  gluten-free meals were available. 

We were there on a Tuesday at lunchtime. We decided to sit in the restaurant. Someone came to take an order for aperitifs straight away.  Three of us chose our meals; two for fish and chips and one for sausage and mash. Our waitress (or server, as I believe the current term is) was happy to discuss the gluten-free aspect. When she was not quite sure she said so.  The gluten-free person opted for a delicious steak and cider, as it was not clear whether the ales are gluten-free. 

All of the food was served promptly and was hot and appetising. Our relatives shared a chocolate dish for pudding but my husband and I were replete.

Interested and helpful to those with special dietary requirements

Buffet had there was not great. But Breakfast you could not fault. Very good quality Ingredients used. Room was cold on arrival but was soon warm after we put on the electric fire. Room was old , hot tap did not work but there was a shower. Bed was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Expensive for what it was.

Family Function

We were a party of 8 and pre-booked just for lunch. We were quickly seated, offered drinks and then efficiently served with starters followed by mains and desserts. Water was brought to the table immediately while we perused the wine list. Good atmosphere on what seemed to be a busy day. Curteous staff and attention. Good ales available.

Good service and food on a sunday

We booked to stay here for the night as the location etc fitted in with our weekend plans. The pub was easy to locate and not far from the town centre.

The accommodation could do with a bit of tweaking which would easily take it to the next level.

Friendly and amenable staff. 

Excellent freshly cooked breakfast served prior to departure.

Stop over stay

This is a very basic hotel in a very old building. The staff although nice were just inefficient. The night we were there only one staff member to deal with the pub and restaurant. Felt really sorry for him. The food at dinner was again very average but the breakfast was well cooked although you had to choose what you wanted the night before.
Overall it is very overpriced for what it is.

Overpriced for what you get

Food was pretty basic defrosted lemon chicken, undercooked chips and unimaginatve salad. We only went to eat so unsure about accomodaton. Don't think we will be rushing back anytime soon although frendly enough
