Went for a quick break. Some issues, the site was being expanded, so we were woken every morning, by machinery, and 'George' 
Who was the foreman. We had a hot tub, but there were no instructions or testing strips, we assumed the staff would test and add whatvever was necessary, but by day 4 the water was not nice. We called they came, cleaned filter and said it must be hecause the children had weed in it.. not so. Kids had hot tub rash when we got home. No facilities apart from a shop, on site which we were aware of. Curtains were mouldy, we did complain they gave us back 25%.

Disappointing break

It was ok. Managed to get a very good deal so if we had paid any more maybe not so. Location was perfect for days out etc. Park is a bit of a building site at the mo, construction work very loud quite early and also looks very messy in places but this of course won’t be forever. Unexpected power cut Saturday evening. Luckily had a fully charged power bank to plug in a USB lamp I had and a fully charged iPad with some films on or else it had been very annoying with nothing to do in darkness! Lodge was nice at first glance, but on closer inspection was pretty filthy. Needed a good vacuum, wrappers down the side of the bedside table and crumbs under the table in the kitchen area. Cobwebs in all corners plus very mouldy curtains and net curtains which were quite off putting and think caused a bit of an odd smell to the place. Shower powerful but very difficult to control temperature. Hot tub was nice albeit quite old. (Hot tub lights didn’t work for example and head rest missing) All in all for the bargain price we paid it was worth it, didn’t go with high expectations therefore didn’t end up disappointed. Not the greatest fan of not seeing a person at check in and the app thing for getting in and out of lodge, worked fine for us but could have easily have caused many problems if battery had died or phone went missing on a day out for example. Hopefully this will improve when construction work is complete but I would imagine it would also be double the price then as well! I would be happy to return once work on the park is finished as think this is what’s currently letting it down.

Could have been better but wasn’t all bad.

WHY WHY WHY WHY can't you have a key to open your accommodation?
Keys seemed to be doing alright at unlocking stuff, for the last couple of millennia.
So why did they decide to use an app?
I wasn't a Tesla. I wanted to open. And 
what happens if it doesn't work, and it is raining? Well, you can't get in and get wet!

Nice spacious caravan well appointed,
However a few minor gripes.
A six- four beded caravan but only 1 large glass.

Airfryer was dirty. Slightly grubby sofa. 

Comfy beds and nice large towels. Hot tub was great and showers were the perfect combo of hot and powerful.
Large fridge freezer, good amount of storage space.

ANNOYING DOOR LOCK

We have just got back from a 4 night stay at Devon Hills holiday park. We stayed at 19 South Hams and was really looking forward to our stay. The 2 stars are purely for the caravan itself. I would give more but it wouldn’t reflect how bad our experience was. 
There were no pictures of the caravan that we booked, which we was ok with at the time and decided to book as it had a hot tub and other caravans on site looked clean and had good reviews. We was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at how lovely the caravan was. It was spacious, clean and ideal for our holiday. Unfortunately, that’s where the good news ends. 
On our first day, we went to the Blagdon Inn, advertised as a 15th century pub and was delighted that it was on site. We turned up and on the outside, the pub is stunning. Absolutely beautiful in fact. When we went inside, we was let down by the decor, the menu and that it was a cashless venue. The paint job was shocking, no finesse, nothing looked finished. The menu on the website was not what was available and was very basic and extremely overpriced. The beer selection was just as bad too, no Devon beers/ales available just very bog standard drinks. Again over priced and we could get a better selection at a Wetherspoons. Venues should make it clear that they are cashless, which in my personal opinion is terrible as cash still exists and we was in the middle of Devon for crying out loud. They’re hardly keeping with the times as when you go out side of the holiday park, you’re surrounded by derelict buildings, shops etc that just need a lick of paint. We didn’t eat at the Blagdon Inn as we couldn’t justify paying those prices. Also, the pub was always empty, even for Easter holidays so surely lowering prices and having more of a selection of food and drink was resolve that problem. 
The next morning I received a txt message from the holiday park to say they were turning off the power at the park that night between 10pm and 6am the following morning. No warning, nothing. This would have been planned so why were we not told about this. I sent an email asking why we were not informed previously and that we had food and drink in the caravan so if power was to be turned off, would we be compensated for the food/drink loss. Also, we have 2 young children who need light during the night. The response from the front of house member of staff was quite shocking actually. He told me that it was now happening on Thursday which will give us more time to make other arrangements and that if we keep the fridge and freezer closed, food can be stored for 48 hours. Why should we have to make other arrangements for a ‘planned power cut’ that was not communicated to us. By the end of day 2 I wanted to leave and I’ve never felt like that about anywhere I’ve visited. 
The next morning, before 8am there were work men outside our caravan digging a huge hole to try and remove a tree stump. Again, no communication about any works going on around where we was staying. We were aware of the works being done to the leisure centre, which was still unavailable during our stay, but this was not an issue for us. The works being done right next to and around the caravan was not communicated at all. Had we have known, we definitely would not have travelled for nearly 4 hours to stay there. The mess the workmen made was ridiculous. We couldn’t use the hot tub as we had no privacy. The workmen did advise us that they just get told where to go and they turn up. So Devon hills would’ve known about the construction going on before we arrived. This went on for 3 days. 3 days where we couldn’t use the hot tub we paid for, 3 days where we HAD to leave the caravan as we had no privacy and the noise and the mess was really unsettling. It was Easter week, why did this work need to be done then?! It felt like it was a personal attack as we complained about the power cut. 
Devon hills were consistent in contacting me to try and get a £250 security deposit but couldn’t send a quick email to inform us of any of the disturbances. 
After this experience, I will not be returning to Devon hills and I think others should seriously consider before booking. I also feel that I should be compensated for the holiday as we was unable to use the hot tub and was ‘forced’ to leave our caravan when we didn’t really want to. 
I hope to hear back from Devon Hills regarding these issues.

I need a holiday after that ‘holiday’!!

Just returned from a stay at Devon hills. 

The allocated lodge was brambles 76 with an hot tub, the  lodge was lovely,  you can tell it was an older lodge but it served its purpose, lovely decor, wifi  was great and we had no problems, and the beds, they are so comfortable and the pillows were perfect for us.

The lodge had decking all around which was lovely,  and this will be lovely in the summer. 

Two  negatives: 
1) the decking was very green & dirty which made it super slippery and very dangerous,  especially when you get out of the hot tub. - maybe clean this more regular or use anti slip decking. 

2) lack of street lights,  very dark walking back from the connected county pub, 
The Blagdon inn 

Over all great stay and we will go back

Great break away, definitely recommend

The caravan was a bit tired and could have been cleaner. The decking was extremely slippy. Our holiday was ruined by persistant noise at night coming from an adjacent caravan. 
I told reception about this but nothing was done.
On our last night the music was very loud and I called the out of hours number at 10.30pm. The man said he would 'look into it'. The music continued and I called again at 1.30am the man seemed put out that I had called. I asked if he had spoken to the noisy neighbour and he said 'NO' he hadn't. I said it was unacceptable and that I could call the police, he said that because I had called he would 'have to' go out and deal with it. The music stopped at 2.00am!
The Haulfryn staff seem unwilling to deal with any issues on the park.
We will not be back!

Holiday ruined by loud music!

We booked the superior hot tub lodge for our 4 night honeymoon/last family holiday. When we arrived at the lodge ( fairview heights 19 ) we realised it was dog friendly. We did not get informed that it would be dog friendly or asked if it would be ok, which obviously with a 2yr old it was not. 

- entrance mat covered in crumbs.
- living room not hoovered.
- sofa was filthy & covered in dog hair.
- boiler was turned off when we arrived and no direction to where it was located.
- hot tub has had no privacy at all.
- fridge was dirty.
- beds had not been changed (huge foundation mark on the sheets).
- on site pub only takes card & automatically adds on a 10% tip.
- oven has gaps so all the heat comes out. Resulting in food taking twice as long to cook.
-  no space in a spare room for the travel cot.
- Thick dust on the extractor fan over the oven.
- bathroom vents/fans thick of black dust. 
- under the fridge absoloutely filthy.
- double bedroom room window was left wind open ( assuimg to try and air the dog smell )
- cobwebs everywhere.
 
Unfortunately this was not worth the money. We wont be returning to this site again.



4 night stay at devon hills

Stayed in 28 Moonshadow Rise for 4 nights in September. (2 families with toddlers)

The lodge is very spacious, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plenty of storage with an open plan kitchen, dining and living area which goes out onto decking with amazing views of the hills behind, lovely to sit in the hot tub with great views any time of day the kids loved it too!  Someone comes to check the hot tub every morning (scared us the first morning as we weren't expecting to find someone on our decking as we opened the curtains but good to know they are checked regularly)

The built in fridge didn't work but this has already been resolved as they have provided another free standing fridge so no issues.

The site could do with better signs to help find the lodge as we drove around in circles on arrival but once you find your lodge it is easy to find again. 

No leisure centre on site during our stay as apparently it had suffered a fire and was being rebuilt, shame as we would have used the pool if possible but it didn't ruin our stay. We went out exploring everyday so didn't spend a lot of time on the site itself.

On site pub was fine, typical pub grub on the menu, plenty of choice for the kids with a play area outside too and they even have a 'doggy dinner' (love finding places that are dog friendly, we didn't bring our dog this time but its good to know for future)

Overall the location of this site was brilliant for us as Paignton Zoo and the beach are just down the road and a few other places we visited were only 20 mins away in the car.  We had a fab week away with friends and would certainly return in future.

Great site and location

POSITIVES:-
* Friendly staff - Gary on security was very helpful assisting us with the electronic key to the caravan
* Welcome pack  - contained bin bag, washing up sponge and tea / coffee sachets
* Included towels and also left washing up liquid
* Site is well located for Paignton and surrounding area
* On a main bus route from Totnes to Paignton and buses are every 30 mins
* Good value for money in comparison to other holiday parks
NEGATIVES:-
* You need a smart phone to download the electronic key on to as they have done away with physical keys during COVID. Although it does mean you can check in anytime it's not fun when you are standing outside the caravan in the rain and it takes a few mins for your phone to connect with the caravan lock. Also we couldn't get in the first night as the key didn't go to the correct mobile number so had to get security out to let us in.
* Caravan cleaning could have been way better - stains on sofa, dirty bedroom carpet, dust / fluff under sofa & beds, bits in the food cupboards, melted ice-cream in the freezer and behind the toilet seat wasn't cleaned (bits of dust and fluff).
* Said on info left in caravan there were recycling bins in the bin bay for dry recycling and glass - there was only a glass bin and the normal general waste so wasted my time separating the rest out (plastic bottles, paper and cans) - need to update the info they leave in the caravan
* No leisure facilities (part from the onsite pub) - they are still building the leisure complex.

Nice park but just need to iron out a few problems

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Devon Hills in no 56, Brambles

The lodge was fantastic, really modern & cosy. Everything we needed was provided. Large outdoor decking area & the hot tub was lovely. 
Only complaint (really minor) was there was quite a few cobwebs higher up that need a bit of attention. Other than that the lodge was clean & welcoming. 

The park was generally very quiet, tiny bit of main road noise at peak times but very quiet at night. 

We didn’t need reception services (apart from a initial key issue) but the staff were friendly, helpful and resolved the issue within minutes. 

We went for drinks at the Blagdon Inn a few times, again staff were great. 

If your coming from Paignton side, go a little further up the road to the main entrance - much more visible/easier to turn into than the Blagdon Inn entrance. 

The park is in a really good location, 10 mins to Totnes & roughly the same to Paignton.

There is an Asda & Sainsburys roughly a 6 min drive away from the park. 

We used the local bus service to Paignton, £2 fare on the Gold bus. Stop is right outside the park & takes you straight into Paignton bus station. 

Overall, we had a fantastic holiday & would return!
