This B&B is in the most perfect location  .
The scenery is splendid!!

The owners Sarah & Richard  are THE most sweetest folks! They went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect with our stay!

It is so close to the heart of this beautiful town! Everything you want or need is within walking distance.  Perfect!

I highly reccomend!!! If you want quaintness this is the place to visit!!!

Whitfield house Ludlow

We have just returned from staying in Ludlow for two nights at this lovely establishment.

When I called ahead to make the payment I was greeted really well and made to feel that we were important.

When I advised the time we would be arriving in Ludlow we were told to come to the first house and our room would be ready.

The hosts did not disappoint, the room was ready and they provided a nice cafeteria of coffee.

This set the tone for the next couple of days.

We stayed in The French Room which was clean and a nice comfortable bed with an onsuite toilet and show.

The breakfast on offer was simply excellent with the choice of cereal on offer and the combination of cooked breakfast that you could have from a full English to a first smoked salmon with scrambled egg in a choice of toast.

A joy to stay at and only a 10 minute walk from the town centre.

Next time we visit Ludlow we know where to stay.

What a lovely place

We stayed here for three nights at the end of May so that we could do some walking in the area. Initially we had a little difficulty finding Whitfield House; its easy to miss as cannot be seen from the lane. Once there though we received a very warm welcome and were shown around the acommodation and offered refreshments. Our room was beautifully appointed with good sized en suite and plenty of hot water. The gardens are quite outstanding with views over towards Ludlow Castle and meadows. On a warm, sunny evening this would be a delight. Breakfasts were lovely and plentiful. No need for snacking during the day as they were very filling. My back was playing up when we visited so the only downside was the bed which was softer than I usually have and so my pain seemed worse than usual. Thats a very personal thing though and there is no way the hosts can cater for everybodies different preferences or idiosyncracies . This was a very nice  b&b and we would recommend it to our friends without hesitation.

Warmly welcomed by the lovely couple,they tried to upgrade us for a night but decided to stay in the room we had booked for the three nights,room was lovely with ample space for clothes,we had breakfast each morning it had plenty of choice we had full english it was gorgeous,gardens were beautiful and in full bloom,we would certainly back here,10 out of 10 from us

All we could have wished for and more

If you are looking for the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of town and city life, we highly recommend Whitfield House.  Whilst it is just on the outskirts of Ludlow town centre, you'de think you were miles from anywhere.  All we could hear was the bleating of lambs and the sound of the odd pheasant. 

Our room, (the Lawrence room, or is that Laurence?) was more like a suite, was spectacularly clean, large, light and airy, and furnished with period furniture. Two stately chairs were situated by the window, offering a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside, as well as Ludlow castle. The comfortable bed had wonderfully clean, soft cotton sheets. A particularly thoughtful touch was the provision of a large packet of Hobnob biscuits and a bar of fruit and nut chocolate. Not only this, but fresh milk and bottled water could be found in a refigerator on the landing.  As far as we were concerned, this is above and beyond anything we've experienced at a bed and breakfast before. 

Breakfast was perfect.  Fresh, great quality ingredients, cooked perfectly, and served in an immaculate breakfast room, again, with a perfect view of the countryside. 

Sarah, the owner, was charming and attentive, yet unobtrusive, allowing you to enjoy your break, yet always ready to offer advice on local places to visit or eat.


The perfect getaway

We stopped here for 1 night we were not sure where to stay but think we made the right choice, it was more like a suite than a room lovely and clean and great views of the castle and country side, the owners are very friendly and welcoming and they supplied a wonderful breakfast, after checking out they let us leave our car there while we walk in to ludlow town centre about 10 min stroll away, Great Stay.

Castle View

It’s not often a place exceeds our expectations, but this place did. Easy parking, very historic house, lovely and clean rooms, more extras than most B&Bs and superb views. The quality was excellent, nice bathroom products and good tea items. Nice touch to have fresh milk and water. Very good quality breakfast. Mortimer room has a fantastic view- we sat and looked out across the Shropshire hills and Ludlow castle to relax. We would definitely return.
