No kids entertainment. Had to ask for cloth / napkins to clean every table. Dirty. Staff great but understaffed. Arcade 🤣 1 machine and two claw machines. Pub/venue closes at 7pm Sunday. Kids indoor soft play. Tiny. Not clean enough for babies and todlers. 
Food menu. Chip or cheese n chips. 
Remote, more like pot holes and 3 miles of dodgy road. Nothing good here for kids. 30 min drive out every lunch/dinner. 
Shop badly stocked closes early. No vending machine, no cash machine. 
Not enough staff.
Thirlmere gold caravan 🤣 Not. Compare it with other sites. 
Please, please, please 🙏 do not waste your money and upset your little ones by going here. Hovel. Dirty, nothing here. Staff, overworked Not enough staff. DO NOT GO HERE. PLEASE. 

NEVER GO HERE.

The arcade is very disappointing as there was nothing in there. The caravan itself was lovely . Wasn't made to feel welcome as a young lad who works behind the bar was giggling about us as soon as we walked in with the other staff . The food menu only has 4 choices , and the dessert menu was ice cream only . Waiting for ages to be served within the bar and cabaret bar itself even though staff was present . There is nothing to do in the park itself.  The swimming pool was only a good thing facility wise . Wouldn't recommend it, and it's a shame as the views surrounding the caravan park were lovely . 

Not ideal holiday park 

Travelled with a friend and our 4 children. The road to the site isn’t too bad, you just need to make sure you take your time.  We arrived at 7pm, the park warden had our key and information as the reception was closed. lovely and no problem at all arriving so late.

We were in a 6 berth coniston and the caravan was lovely. Absolutely immaculate. The living area is really spacious and had ample room for 2 adults and 4 kids.

The site itself is immaculate. We managed to visit the pool and it’s really well maintained.

We did the kids disco on the Saturday night. Worth noting there is only entertainment certain nights of the week. Everything shut at 7pm on the Sunday night. The on-site shop also closes fairly early. 

We didn’t do the beach. If you have kids we were told that the sand can be like sinking sand and dangerous at times. 

We travelled to Lancaster and fleetwood easily. Good location for travelling around the area.

Overall a lovely stay and we would come back. 

Immaculate caravan on a well maintained site 

Just got back from a weekend stay and had a good experience.  The staff are all very friendly and the whole place is quite relaxed in regards to the rules and we didn't have to leave the bar with our children at the time specified. There is a local spar shop about 15 min drive away so you can stock up on essentials as the shop shuts about 5pm. The pool area was very nice and seemed quiet . There is a also a lovely pub 15 mins away called the Stork that has very good , reasonably priced food . Kids enjoyed the small soft play area and the dog was welcome throughout the bar . The park is in the middle of nowhere so do your research to avoid disappointment.  Also the beach is more of an estuary rather than one you sunbathe on but there is a nice beach at Heysham you can drive to. It did rain a lot on our weekend stay so we spent a lot of time in the bar watching the entertainment and playing bingo which was all fun and yes everybody does seem to know everybody but there's nothing wrong with that,  it's just like being in your local pub.

What has happened to Cockerham Sands?
Had a weekend stay at Cockerham, we had not been down for a couple of years, but in that time it has gone down hill.

After driving down the country lane and coming face to face with the sea we were eager to get to the van and have a lovely walk.
As we drove up to the entrance the side of the road was piled high with rotting grass cuttings, this used to be a nice stretch of grass but is now a stinking compost heap.
Things only got worse when we drove onto the site, there are weeds everywhere with the central planting area and borders outside the office and pub looking unloved and abandoned.  Where are the lovely hanging baskets and bedding plants that used to be there?

Site was very quiet to begin with and not many people around.  
Then it began the arrival of the loud teenagers who took over the swimming pool with there bottles and cans of beer and boom box  The partying carried into the night.

Will not be returning after many years of happy holidays

 


What has happened?

Stayed here last week with just myself and my husband, our caravan was lovely almost brand new, the site is a little out the way which was exactly what we where looking for. Lovely walks in the area right along the beach and the entertainment on friday and saturday night was amazing, food and drink was also very reasonably priced. I will definitely be booking again

Fantastic Holiday

This site is run by muppets . Pure leisure are only interested in money . . No entertainment during the week or on sundays . The restaurant and pub  is closed on tuesdays and wednesdays , even on the saturday we arrived . There is nothing to do for kids at all . Kids have to vacate the premises by 9,30 . The shop was shut and its a twenty minute drive to the nearest shop . Please spend your money elsewhere as you will be very disappointed.  The owner is a multi millionaire with only your purse strings on his mind

Avoid

If you have a family don't go here.......no entertainment most the week, when there is children under 14 have to be out by 2130.......staff rude, place run by residents or caravan owners......on our last night we were told to go back to our caravan at 2130...apparently the rule came in on our last day...I mean really?  The site is miles away from any where so make sure you have loads of petrol......this is not a hoseasons holiday park....probably cause they are crap....I am so disappointed our first big family holiday and we got this.....Please folks don't go to this holiday park....resident vaping in the onsite pub.....they are surrounded by falling down buildings.....beach is pants....seriously I can't stress enough DONT GO HERE!! You will be disappointed.....if I could score them a minus score

NEVER AGAIN

Caravan was absolutely immaculate and seemed very new. We booked a 3 bedroom platinum caravan on the pure leisure website - this was a langdale caravan no.9 on the end near the clubhouse. We stayed for 3 nights over the platinum jubilee 4 adults, 1 infant and 1 dog. It had everything we needed and was very modern. Kitchen with microwave, oven, fridge, freezer, enough cutlery and plates, utensils etc too. Central heating was fantastic and warmed the caravan very quickly. Ensuite bathroom to main bedroom with sink and toilet and then a main bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. We had a little veranda part out the front from the lounge which was an added bonus we didn't realise there would be one. This was a pet friendly caravan and we took our 2 year old dog with us, but you would not have known any animals had been in there as it was spotless. The main bedroom is roomy and has a walk in wardrobe type room. The second bedroom was small but had a wardrobe, the third bedroom only had space for the beds and really is for children I would suggest. There was barely a gap to get between the beds. 
Communication was excellent. I was courtesy called after making the booking to see what time we would be checking in. If you check in after 5pm the reception is closed and you get your keys from the house on site instead. I asked whether they would remove one of the single beds from the 3rd bedroom as we would be putting our own travel cot in one of the rooms and they were only too happy to help with this. All sorted before our arrival. We were advised that we could check in during the morning if we wanted as the caravan was ready - I recieved a further courtesy call at half 9 on the morning of arrival to let us know that the caravan was ready. Thank you Linda for your great communication and your help with the bed removal. 
On site there is a small shop with the essentials, a laundrette, heated child and adult pool, kids play area (swings, slide, climbing frame etc) and a clubhouse. The clubhouse had evening entertainment every night including kids discos etc. The clubhouse had a pub type resturaunt with a formal part at the beginning and if you walked further down a more bar type area where dogs were allowed. This was great as it meant we could take our dog for the one night we ate there. Food was reasonably priced and portions were large. 
Only slight niggles we had were the TV remote was not working on the day of arrival and neither was the WiFi. We luckily had took some board games with us and actually had to communicate with each other that night (haha) as signal is not great at the site. After a visit to reception in the morning both issues were sorted whilst we were out for the day and when we returned we had new batteries in the remote and our devices all connected to the WiFi. Great customer service.
Also a mention to the man at reception (sorry we didn't catch your name). On arrival he gave us a guided tour round the facilities and explained how everything worked. Thank you!
Yes, you do have to drive a couple of miles down a single lane track when you hit moss lane, but the hedges are low and you can see whether anything is coming. Drivers are very careful around the roads and we had no issues at all getting to it. It is quite out of the way though, nearest shop we found was around 10-15mins away and was a small spar supermarket, otherwise you're looking at around 20 mins away to Lancaster for resturaunts etc. If this doesn't bother you then it's a great location to get away from everything! We drove up to the lake district for 2 of the days, it was around 55 minutes to get to Windermere from here up the m6, which was ideal for us.
If you don't want to be near the clubhouse and would mind a bit of noise from the evening entertainment and kids playing football on the green then I'd ask to be further away from it. It didn't bother us being close to it.

Amazing caravan in remote location!

We booked here because we had stayed before and really liked it , it is perfect for people with dogs as lots of places to walk. The caravan was clean but basic ,needs a few lamps. The staff are brilliant very friendly and helpful. My big complaint is the new owners have tripled the price of a week from about £300 to £900 plus, and the week we where there the shop was shut for 3 days , can ask reception if you need anything , and the pub didn't do food and was shut for 2 days . We would love to go back but at the prices they are asking just to stay in a caravan it is way out of a lot of peoples price range xxx
