Four of us had an amazing afternoon tea today. Excellent friendly service. We got a top up of tea and more sandwiches. Really tasty sandwiches and the cakes were to die for especially the carrot cake. Also delicious fruit and cheese scone. We will be back!

Afternoon Tea

Arrived on Friday for the Holt Christmas lights switch on and fireworks. . Quirky room in the eaves with a nice little desk/seating area and lovely bathroom.  Lovely shortbreads and a delicious gluten free brownie with a great selection on teas, coffee and hot chocolate. Fridge in the room and water filter jug. 
Voucher to use in the restaurant for tea and cake which is a nice touch. So spoilt for choice with a large range of gluten free cakes/tray bakes. Extensive gluten free savoury menu too.
Breakfast choice was extensive, lovely selection of cold meats, cheeses and smoked salmon, fresh fruit and yoghurt and granolas. Wide choice of hot food, including full English, kippers, kedgeree, frittata and a selection of sourdoughs; smashed avocado,  Benedict and more.
Perfect position centrally to Holt with a fantastic range of clothing, gift shops and stores. 
Dinner was in one of the cozy dining room snugs, the seafood platter was delicious and gluten free. The mussels and fries were heavenly then brownie sundae to finish off.
Sunday morning breakfast delicious and filling as everything is far too tempting after a beautiful coastal walk only 4 miles away at Westbourne. 
Little car park at the rear which was full but easy to drop off luggage then town car park a couple of minutes walk. 
Lovely staff couldn’t do enough for us.

Delicious food, beautiful rooms and attentive staff

I absolutely love coming to Byfords - it is such a special, comfortable and memorable experience. The rooms are absolutely stunning and each unique; the food is excellent and the service is always 10/10. Thank you!

Lovely clean room, quiet, friendly staff, so made for a relaxing stay. The building has lots of character and is set in the heart of Holt. My only criticism is the lack of bath robes and we had to wait over 40 mins for breakfast. The breakfast is in the cafe, so open to the public, if you prefer something more exclusive, this might not be your first choice.

Character stay in the heart of Holt

Fabulous stay at Byford's for our Wedding Anniversary.  On arrival the staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was stunning and everything was quality. We ate in the restaraunt on both evenings and the food was amazing especially the pie ! Breakfast was excellent too. We cannot rate Byford's high enough. We loved staying there and will look forward to a return stay.

Wedding Anniversary

Home from a lovely night in Holt celebrating my husbands birthday. This was our first time at Byfords which was recommended by friends. 

I paid for the birthday package on arrival where a few balloons and 2 tiny boxes cakes were placed on the bed. I’m not sure what I was expecting but for £15.00 I was a little underwhelmed but it put a smile on hubbys face. 

The complementary tea and cake voucher was a lovely touch which we enjoyed before we ventured out into the village where there is a huge variety of amenities. 

The room was beautiful and very clean. Fresh lilies in the bathroom and toiletries. Sky TV and sky sports. Bed was so comfy. We had room 12 which unfortunately it right at the top of the stairs so this disturbed us a few times but didn’t affect our sleep. 

There was tea, coffee, milk in the fridge and 2 little cute heart shortbread biscuits left out. 

Breakfast - wow! Absolutely delicious and we were lucky to be placed at the bay window. Food is all you can eat and there was no rush to leave. 

The lady on reception was delightful. She kindly lent me a phone charger for the night and was very helpful.

First time in Holt. Didn’t disappoint.

It was so nice to return to this friendly welcoming hotel. A spur of the moment overnight stay to brighten these January days. We were limited with room choice, so popular is this boutique hotel. Checking we were greeted like family as everyone is from hearing the conversations between staff and customers. Our room was one of the ground floor rooms just out side reception. It was exceptional considering it was advertised as a smaller room. As in the past there was an invitation for a tea and cake on arrival which was so needed after the drive. 

Our evening meal was a delight. The menu is updated regularly and whilst the time and tested dishes are still there it’s nice to see the constant updated. The tapas style starters are great and the main courses offer a real change from the norm whilst retaining that firmly grounded understanding of the customers expectations 

Finally breakfast: The majority of hotels offer a tried and accepted menu but here the breakfast omelette and breakfast hash make a real change. 

The staff and attention to detail make this a very special place and we look forward to our next visit. 

What a great break

We have just returned from a fabulous two-night stay. We stayed in Room 5, which was wonderful, although not recommended if you’re tall, as the beams and ceilings are quite low, but for us, it was not an issue. On arrival, we were welcomed, and taken to our room. On the bed, we had a voucher for coffee and cake for two to use at any point during our stay, complimentary water, milk, cookies and toiletries. Holt itself is beautiful, with lovely independent shops and cafés. Breakfast was fantastic, as was dinner, with attentive and friendly staff. A varied menu also, so something really for everyone. We really couldn’t fault anything during our stay, the only addition that would be lovely is bath robes in the bathroom, and slightly larger water bottles! The winter warmer deal made this amazing value for money, and we are already planning to return soon. Thank you for making our visit so special!

Faultless Wekend

I like Byfords , always have and for me the best of its kind in Holt . Good food , good service and lovely surroundings . I know what I’m about to write will have a lot of people who rolling their eyes , at a guess because they’re not effected but here’s my nark . Visiting the toilets I saw there were 6 . 1 disabled , 3 for women only and 2 that can be shared by both men and women . So other than the disabled all 5 are occupied and 3people are waiting . First in the queue is a lady , 2nd a man ME ! The first cuticle to become vacant was one of the , both men and women can use cubicles , in she went . But if I’d of been first in line and a women only cubicle would of come free first I’d of been obliged to step aside and let the First Lady in the queue behind me take it .

I know it may seem petty but it isn’t ,it’s black and white discrimination anti male sexism . It’s no fault of yours girls but you may or not know but we blokes are noticing it , talking about it and starting to get sick of it . A mate of mine says it’s on the increase because most blokes just shrug their shoulders and get on with it . He may be right , but it’s time we stopped accepting being treated as 2nd class citizens . As I say , the ladies are not responsible for it , but establishments like Byfords should know better and practice equality . Still a nice place to dine and shop at though .

Good but subscribes to the ever growing tide of  anti male sexism

Stayed at Byfords posh b&b  several years ago and were very impressed. As we were coming down from Newcastle to visit friends we decided to extend our trip with a 4 night stay in Holt. We were given room 15. 
Evening meals and breakfasts were vast and huge choice. Service was at times painfully slow and the excellent staff were constantly apologising for the wait for food and drink.
Room 15 is above and adjacent to the kitchen so a background noise from the extractor/ventilation is a constant. We had a huge problem on our third night when  contractors began work in the kitchen at 11pm and were still there after 3am using power tools and radio playing. Totally unacceptable and in the morning the manager was mortified and apologised profusely. We were reimbursed for that nights stay .The room should never have been let out knowing work was scheduled. Some of the nice touches that that were there have gone on the alter of Covid, No biscuits out at night for the guests and no fresh bread to cut yourself in the restaurant. Place starting to look a bit tired around the edges. However the staff were excellent and enthusiastic so no complaints with them.
