Does what it says on the tin (website). Milk, condiments, butter, sugar, preserves etc. all  fresh / from real containers - no plastic pots or sachets. The building is large, yet cosy; our room was decorated to a high standard and we had a good night's sleep. There is a TV lounge (we didn't use), and an additional dining room, with microwave and crockery & cutlery, for takeaways. The breakfast was very good - wide choice, thoughtful touches, extra tea and toast offered. The staff and owner were friendly and helpful. As a bonus, Haltwhistle is a gem of a small town. I've walked along Hadrian's Wall, and up and down the South Tyne valley and Allendale for years, but had never visited Haltwhistle. I'll be coming back, hopefully staying at the Grey Bull.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, lovely room, very clean, modern.  They have thought of all the little extras - fresh milk instead of those tiny cartons - an extra dining room where you can bring back a takeaway and have use of everything you would have at home - microwave etc - owners could not have done more.  Breakfast delicious and set us up for the day.  Easy parking on site.  Great great location - we visited the Roman forts and museums nearby.  Had super meals at Manor Inn which is less than 5 minutes away.  Will definitely stay again and have already recommended to others.

Super Place, super people

A very welcoming b and b. Room was spotless and comfortable after a day walking the wall. Breakfast was first rate. Location is spot on, near the town center. The host even drove us back up to the wall in the morning to continue the walk. You couldn't wish for a nicer place to stay.

A marvellous bed and breakfast

Part of an Intrepid tour - owners were very welcoming, room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was very good - I'd highly recommend. Well located in Haltwhistle, nearby the Main Street shops and pubs.

Lovely B&B near Hadrian's Wall

Myself and three friends were cycling down the NCN68 from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Derby.
The hotel let us store our bikes in the back buildings which was good of them. Very welcoming reception and all the staff were excellent. The rooms were very clean & modern. Breakfast was great. Overall a lovely one night stay. Great place to stay and close to Hadrians Wall.

Lovely modern B&B

Stayed here for one night whilst walking Hadrian's wall. The host was extremely welcoming and helpful and offered to take us back to the wall to start our walk the next day, rather than walk the extra few miles. The whole place and our room was very clean and tidy and the bathroom  had lots of useful little extras, such as cotton wool pads, cotton wool buds, deodrant etc, all very useful when you're back packing. Plus fresh milk for tea and coffee in your room.  Much nicer than those little cartons of milk you usually get.  There was also a communal lounge (which we didn't use) and a separate dining room for guests if you wanted to get a take away in etc.  Breakfast was fantastic and very personalised (I am fussy about eggs), with lots of choice of cereal, fruit etc.  Excellent value and well worth the stop.  BTW we ate in the Black Bull pub in the evening which was worth it too.

A very warm and welcoming stay

We had a great time, every need catered for.  Great facilities, even a kitchen and dining room to use as well as a fridge in our room!  Super breakfast with so many delicious choices.  They were fantastic with my daughter who has dairy and nut allergies.  Thank you so much, I would highly recommend to anyone and will be back again in the future

Family stay near Hadrian's wall

We don't normally think of staying in B&B's, but we booked this at the last minute when a nearby hotel we had booked had to close because of Covid-19. I cannot fault this place - the owners have gone out of their way to think of your comfort and requirements. Simple touches like fresh milk in a fridge outside your room instead of those nasty little UHT pots. A guest dining room for you to eat a takeaway if you choose, and they even wash up for you! Gary was so welcoming and helpful. The location is absolutely perfect for visiting Hadrian's Wall and the sites, and is very close to pubs and restaurants. All in all a great place to stay. Wish we had stayed longer.

A welcoming and high standard B&B in a perfect location where the owners go the extra mile

We went here after a mix up with Manor House. We were really pleased. The room was third floor but huge 4 bed room. Double two singles so would make it great family room   Excellent facilities. A lounge with big tv to share and a small dining room to eat take aways   Lovely people and breakfast brilliant.  We will do some more of the wall and stop again

Walk the wall in comfort

Hi.  Booked with the grey bull for the 19th and 20th of June.  Gary (the owner) informed me that the only room he had available was a twin which was fine as it was last minute.  A day or so later Gary drove to my house as there was a double room available and there was a digit missing on my phone number, superb service.  When we got there they even had a bottle of bubbly chilled for us.  Very friendly couple and staff and perfectly clean.  Couldn’t recommend highly enough.  
Interestingly as we were leaving Gary asked if we had family in Barnsley as the couple booked for the room we were in next have the surname and as ours is Seddon it’s a bit of a coincidence lol.  I’m sure those Seddon’s had a pleasant a visit as these ones.  Thank you again and all the best
